OK, I don't know what kinda war I'm starting now but here goes:
How do you think Protools is as a midi sequenser vs dedicated sequensers like Cubase, Logic, Sonar, FL Studio and the like?
The reason I'm asking is that I'm a soundengineer with Film, TV and so on as my specialty, I'm also a dedicated musician which makes most Trance and Hardcore like Prodigy music. I ahve for several years used Cubase as my leading software with Reason as a second one...
I know that there is alot less plugins for the RTAS/TDM but I also think they are more classy and I love the Protools for audio editing. It's the bomb!
I'm also wondering about buying the motorola dsp and The Virus Indigo. But this is a huge investment for me and I need to be shure before I do..
So, give me all your points of view, I would like to hear anyone with experiences of both softwares as midi sequencers....
Thanx dudes!!
Protools vs. Cubase SX2 as a MIDI sequenser...?

Midi in PTLE is rudementry and basic and can't compare to the likes of Cubase or Sonar. Before your spring for the PoCo card/FXPansion VST adapter and Virus, just realize that using it in PTLE won't be fun at best.Personally,I'd keep Cubase for creation then export your project OMF for further audio editing ect. in PTLE.Alie Music wrote:I'm also wondering about buying the motorola dsp and The Virus Indigo. In the studio I use pro-tools TDM for all the audio. The MIDI edditing is fine with me, but I think the main problem is there are not as much good synths as in VST. I have also problems with the tempo sync of synths like the FM7 in protools.
Therefore, I use a Mac with Pro Tools as the audio an midi master, and have a PC laptop with Sonar and lots of synths and use it as a synth station.
Works very good for me.

I use FXpansion VST2RTAS wrapper for all my VST (including the NI ones)in Protools. They sync better (they sync correct!) and in general they working better this way.
I find midi in Protools better then Cubase since it is handled in the same way as audiofiles (but it is still not like the power of Logic midi)
I just started to test the energyXT in Protools and it is very promising.
