LOL. They're not even comparable, Tyrell can do more things. And sounds better, too, especially the filter.

it only sounds better because of it's onboard effects.Halonmusic wrote: Mon Dec 24, 2018 10:10 pm Both Charlatan and Tyrell N6 sounds great but N6 can do loads more.
pair charlatan with TAL chorus LX and you have a much more CPU
efficient synth that sounds just as good. regardless of EVILDEVIL's opinion.

i demo'd it a few years ago and quickly discarded it, and went with other
synths that were much more CPU efficient.

Sure. I agree. Charlatan is cpu friendly and sounds great. Tyrell N6 is heavy on the cpu, but can do a lot more. I use charlatan more for its cpu friendliness and that its quick to dual in sounds you want.layzer wrote: Tue Dec 25, 2018 12:38 amit only sounds better because of it's onboard effects.Halonmusic wrote: Mon Dec 24, 2018 10:10 pm Both Charlatan and Tyrell N6 sounds great but N6 can do loads more.

Charlatan simply doesn't have features like hard/soft sync, unique filter capabilities, cross modulation, mod matrix, quasi 5-stage envelopes... Every basic feature on the Tyrell seems to be a bit augmented compared to the Charlatan. Now, I'm not saying that the Charlatan is a bad synth, it's just simpler, more basic compared to the Tyrell.

Pretty much. There's no reasoning with that guy...
Charlatan doesn't have half the features that Tyrell has: loopable envelopes, one more LFO, hard/soft sync, ringmod, mod matrix, filter spread parameter, duophonic mode, and its filter is not exciting at all... It is no contest. But sure, if you have a crap machine like layzer, Charlatan is "better". But it isn't. It doesn't sound "just as good", that's a fallacy. Even without effects the sound quality of Tyrell is just on a higher level.
It's like comparing a Fiat and a BMW. Both will get you from point A to point B, but you will have a helluva lot better drive in the BMW, even if it will use more fuel to do so - it's totally worth it.
