Yes, it's very fun to use.
Check out the Vult modules. Very hard to resist.
VCF-20 also very nice. And new modules keep popping up on a steady pace.
Do the Vult modules come with Core or do they have to be purchased separately?

For that matter, where are the modules that have to be purchased separately?

The Vult modules are excellent but they have to be purchased separately.
The are 'produced' by a third party.

In the store, you can select the manifacturer in the filter on the left hand side.
Third party modules ( = not Cherry Audio) have to be bought separately.
Cherry audio adds new modules on a rapid pace. Some are free (like the ladder filter); some you have to buy ( like the VCF-20 filter). There are also some freebies from other manifacturers.

You'll see in the store whether you have to pay extra for a module.

Checked out the store. Yes, that is indeed quite a rabbit hole you can go down. I haven't done the math but I'm sure all the 3rd party modules together have to add up to many hundreds of dollars.

Almost makes me glad that Softube comes out with new modules at a snail's pace because VM can get incredibly expensive.

Not quite. You can buy the complete PSP bundle for $129 now. We are talking of 20 modules here: https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/p ... collection

Vult bundle costs $80 (eight modules): https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/vult-rage-bundle

That's roughly the price of two modules for Softube Modular. No comparison, IMO.

The $129 and the $80, that's all the 3rd party modules? Seems there was a lot more than that when I looked in the store.

Besides these two (Vult and PSP), there are just a couple of ones from Cherry Audio themselves, AFAIK.

So a little over $200 covers everything that isn't in Core? At least as of now. Of course as this thing grows (and it appears it is going to grow incredibly fast) it will undoubtedly cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars if you're intent on getting everything.

ALMOST. You still would need to get the few from Cherry Audio that are not in Core (two or three). Bear in mind that the prices I quoted are for the end of year specials. They are not the regular bundle prices, AFAIK.

Extra modules from Cherry Audio and Misfit: Additive Oscillator; Euclidean Duel; VCF-20; Voltage Controlled Mixer; Sixteen-Step sequencer; Random Task; MPE Interface.

Well those prices are still there so I should probably get this stuff now.

But then I wasn't really far off. We are talking several hundred dollars to get everything, in addition to the $99 for Core and drum modules.

Point is, this isn't a cheap hobby by any stretch.

Going modular is expensive  But you know that already

Still, compared to Eurorack hardware, doesn't even come close as far as expense. So it's still probably the best deal around.

No, it's not. Important to be selective.
I guess 100 dollar for core and 100 dollar for cherrypicking (pun intended) specific modules will get you far. Which is very cheap compared to hardware.

Also modules like the polymodules have all been added for free. With the option of adding quality modules like Vult if you so choose to, this is a fair deal imo.

Oh, absolutely fair. Where are you getting a hardware module of any kind of quality for $15 - $25. Do they even make hardware modules that cheap?

Sure, there's plenty of them ;) :P
