you know why theres a big difference between hive and dune?THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu Jan 03, 2019 2:09 amIt doesn't matter what they are called with Zebralette, they behave like filters, and no, saying there are 18 filters is a cop out. You can only access one of 6 from the dropdown menu at a time per oscillator, that's a big difference between Hive and Dune 3 where you can access all 30 of them at any time.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Thu Jan 03, 2019 1:45 am 1. The things you describe in Zebralette are FX, not filters. They're basically the Zebra OscFX.
2. Hive has 6 filters per engine times 3 engines for a total of 18 unique filters. Yes, the filter types are the same, but the filters themselves are different. Kind of like how Dune 3 has multiple versions of a 24db lowpass that you counted multiple times. If you did the same thing for Hive, the difference is much smaller.
So...not the best first post of 2019 IMO.![]()

As for my post, it's on point.
because they're different synths.

Honestly, I don't like it when synths have six million filters in them. At best, I just pick one at random.
In my modular hardware I have 14 VCOs, but two dedicated filters (3 if you count an LPG that has a filter mode, but I don't often use it for that). I don't use the filters very much to be honest, and mostly not for conventional purposes. But I do use my Microbrute fairly often, which has one, distinctive filter

it's the preset crowd that is ruining it for everyone. the preset makers want as much crap as you can shove in it so they can make stupid ass super saws over and over again to sell to drugged up lazy 20 somethings. it's a vicious cycle. cheaper and cheaper we go.

As a counterpoint I've seen people asking for features in Dune 3 that are found in Hive so it's just natural to want the features you like or need.PieBerger wrote: Thu Jan 03, 2019 7:55 am A lot of the suggested "enhancements" are just make Hive more like Dune. Why? If you want a synth like Dune, you can just buy and use Dune... Adding features from another synth just because isn't good design imo.
It's not about making A like B it's about making A and B better.
If you like the core sound of a synth then it's just human nature to want it to do all the things you think are important. It's not "silly" it's simply a show of affection. If we didn't like the synth we wouldn't care if it never got a new feature.
Does Hive need 30 more filters ? No of course not but then it didn't need Wavetable support....

So true. Presets makers killed the video stars also. It's NOT the buggles. We should also examine more closely Marylin Monroe case, I have SERIOUS doubtsDasheesh wrote: Thu Jan 03, 2019 3:26 pm it's the preset crowd that is ruining it for everyone. the preset makers want as much crap as you can shove in it so they can make stupid ass super saws over and over again to sell to drugged up lazy 20 somethings. it's a vicious cycle. cheaper and cheaper we go.

Thankfully we're pretty strict about presets and playability... not too much earcandy in our factory libs, I think...

It's only three days into the year and I think we've already got our winner for this year's "Most Ironic Post".Lotuzia wrote: Thu Jan 03, 2019 4:22 pm Maybe I should have written [humor] somewhere. Some people seem to have hard times to understand that --> H.u.m.o.r

and usable in actual songs. Not every dev in your nation/city/tavern
could make that claim without discarding 2/3 of their collection.
Have a happy and prosperous 2019
