I think Criminal Record is a hidden gem, but this was a killer first shot at things.

The king of hippie space rock came out strong too .. I prefer Green, but most think this is his best.

dig me some Ozric .. I saw Steve on tour around the Green time which is probably why I like that album so much:D I could almost see the stage through the smoke. Palm Trees has one of my all time favorite guitar solos.

ELPs first album was pretty epic for a first go as well.

In hindsight, I don't think it was his actual debut cd but it was my first introduction to his solo career, so in a way, it is his debut as far as I am concerned and it's a classic.

Bobby Brown - Don't Be Cruel
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

funny I didn't see this one .. I still prefer equinox, but there is no denying this was a game changer. And more funny, I can't stand anything he did after Equinox LOL.

In the US of A "merica" .. this was his first release. It was LONG time before I found out he did another solo album first. This is still my favorite and kind of like JMJ, I didn't really care for his stuff after Spiral. It got all soundtracky boring even though he continued to shape the sounds synthesis.

Principally to interrupt this Digriz progfest, but also because it's a great album (and still sounds great) - Bauhaus - In The Flat Field..

I'VE BEEN SLANDERED :hihi: At least 3 of those I posted were not prog. Also, as I looked through a lot of the grittier stuff I might toss on the heap it seemed to come from later efforts, not first albums.

Kind of the vein of the first VH album. This was kind of an untouchable landing.
