I got to try the iLoud Micros for a few days this year... while I thought their neutrality was remarkable, they have a flawed design, and the casing exhibits unbearable port noise from bass frequencies, at anything but whisper-quiet levels.
these things have the worst port noise I've heard since my jvc rv-dp100! not willing to relive my boombox-toting teen years, I went for something else.

I hope you reported that to IK Support as there should be no such behavior as normal operating levels and range. And even outside that, they should be able to get to normal levels (definitely ont whisper-quiet) without a hitch nor that happening.acYm wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 12:40 am I got to try the iLoud Micros for a few days this year... while I thought their neutrality was remarkable, they have a flawed design, and the casing exhibits unbearable port noise from bass frequencies, at anything but whisper-quiet levels.

As Peter mentions, I would strongly suggest reaching out to support here. They will be able to identify what is going on here and if your speakers are experiencing any weird behavior.acYm wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 12:40 am I got to try the iLoud Micros for a few days this year... while I thought their neutrality was remarkable, they have a flawed design, and the casing exhibits unbearable port noise from bass frequencies, at anything but whisper-quiet levels.

Just to add some information here. The iLoud Micro Monitors are designed to go as low as 45Hz at -10dB. This is a pretty low range for similar speakers of this size. For outside of this range we would recommend a sub woofer for best results. I would double check that your issue is not outside the advertised frequency range and maximum SPL levels. If you are experiencing noises which are inside of the advertised range, reach out to support to have them look into your warranty. With the iLoud Micro Monitors, you are offered a 1-year warranty from IK Multimedia directly.
Check out the full specifications on the iLoud Micro Monitors here
*There will be charts for both Frequency Response and Maximum SPL levels.

Why would anyone need to contact IK support after trying out some speakers, deciding they don't sound good and then not buying them?

From what acYm posted, it sounded like he had some irregular behavior. Support would be able to identify if the speakers were not working properly for any reason. If that was the case, they could be swapped out for a fresh pair to allow for the user to have the best possible experience. Sorry for any confusion.

my set that I returned, a white pair, was like that. the bass goes down too low and the port wasn't properly designed, it has a ton of turbulence, it's that simple really. neither kick drums or sine bass tones can be properly monitored with these.
that I have not come across a single reviewer mentioning this issue tells me your marketing department comes before your r&d. the product isn't quite the miracle it's made out to be.

The product is absolutely as good as it is made out to be. That person could have contacted IK too, and we have thousands of users that are extremely happy with them. See below:
With regard to thinking acYm bought them, it is the same here - that part at the end was missed, or perhaps they bought then resold them. My bad, but if they were purchased IK Support would surely help.
Also they sound great. We receive unsolicited positive feedback on iLoud Micro Monitor via our contact page regularly. I hope OP finds a good deal on them, they will be satisfied like the many users we've heard incredible things from. We do have quite a few pros - who bought their own iLoud Micro Monitors - but it is the unsolicited accolades from regular users that we get that really make us proud of how good they sound.

They wouldn't continue to sell if they weren't properly designed. They're a best-selling quality set of monitors that retailers keep reordering and users keep buying (and not returning or being dissatisfied) for a reason.

the iLoud Micros have my full recommendation for non-drummer, non-bassist musicians looking for something decent and portable to output their sound.
in this thread however, someone who is used to mixing on headphones, may end up having to mix on the iLoud Micros. that person would be terribly disappointed to find out that they'd either have to endure a bunch of port noise, or to have a pair of iQuiet Micros.

During normal use they wouldn't experience either of those things. Like the thousands that use them loud, mixing without compromise, without experiencing noise. They surely will not be disappointed in them.acYm wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:22 pm the iLoud Micros have my full recommendation for non-drummer, non-bassist musicians looking for something decent and portable to output their sound.
