don't have to like them to KNOW they changed the world as it was at the point of their debut release. i have read through all the other offerings and none of them has changed the world imo
the reason i chose Van Halen as the 'best' debut album is for it's influence on everything done today.

If you want to go back to debut albums that influenced everything done today, then I might suggest the Beatles' 'Please Please Me,' or Elvis' first LP, or Dylan, the old blues/jazz masters, on to Bach, or Beethoven. 'Influence' is a nebulous concept.
