When I drag a midi file like a drum pattern to my midi track it produces a separate "SysEx Data" track. Happens every time now though it didn't used to. I must've changed something somewhere. Don't even know what it is but I surely don't want it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Bingo! You nailed it! Much appreciated jancivil. That was driving me nuts and I was on the midi file page instead of the midi filter page. Thanks alot!!!jancivil wrote: Tue Jan 01, 2019 3:30 am in Preferences, filter out SysEx. You may have ticked it by accident in there? By default it's filtered out.

I've been suffering from a SysEx track being created with midi import (Cubase 10) and I have to say that I found the Midi Filter preferences do not effect the creation of a SysEx track when dragging midi from the browser.
I get the impression that SysEx is ticked by default to filter them out of recordings and midi thru messages - either way the option doesn't stop a SysEx track being created when midi is dragged and dropped - tick or no tick.
I have gone through every option in preferences and cannot find a way to stop the SysEx track from being created.
Grum.

I just dragged some midi groove clips from one of the additional content packs that come with Cubase.jancivil wrote: Fri Jan 04, 2019 1:14 am Hmmm. Well, I don't know where to look for MIDIs with SysEx so I can't see if the problem replicates here.
It doesn't take much to kill the extra lane in the sequencer but it would be nice not to have to.
Grum.

Oh. Yeah I installed absolutely none of that.
Actually I kept the installer I think. I'll see if I can reproduce this later.
The only MIDIs I've imported create an empty additional track called "MIDI" and if there's sus pedal that's now three tracks.
I wonder if dblock is sorted by the filtering and you're not if it's down to particular files?

from one of the additional content packs
Well, I have drag/dropped several out of Content/Padshop/.../MIDI Files/World Percussions now and none do that.
It looks like other than that I'd have to install it again, and still I don't know what I'm looking for.
Additional Content on the .dmg are '.vst Sound' and I wouldn't know how to take a MIDI out of any of that. But that bit is apparent in that directory as .mid.

As far as I know there isn't a filter for the imported file. It yanks in whatever info is in the file.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer
