Some Riddim/Dubstep? Here we go! Working on something new with Parawave RAPID and this is my first result. ;-)

Mirko, not trying to undermine your work but this is 2019. If you're doing it just to cover all the bases of Rapid offer is completely understandable. But otherwise, except for Asian market producers (do you have many customers from China/Korea by the way?) and bedroom producers stuck in 2012 I have no idea who else will need to use such sounds.

Post

I also think that dubstep is dead, but Vengeance Sound released a dubstep expansion for Avenger very recently, and when some of us said that dubstep was history, they answered that they knew perfectly what they were doing... Maybe we're missing something after all...

And what is "the sound of today"?

No problem and I can understand you but:
1. there are a lot of people who ask for sounds like that
2. I love that genre and love to see that Rapid can do sounds like this (I only know Serum who was able to).

Please don't say that any kind of sound is out of time only because you may not like that,... better you tell me what kind of sound you would like to hear from Rapid and I can put it on my wishlist. ;-)

Not so much a particular kind of sound but I would love to see support for microtuning. :)

Namely the Asian market where dubstep and "edm" (aka bigroom) are still somehow in demand. Asian market is always years behind EU/US. So if they have a lot of clients from Asia, it completely makes business sense.

Then, let's not forget kids and bedroom producers that get locked in the genre they love and completely miss the fact that music is always changing and blindly make expired music - which are a target population for presets.

1. hey, if it makes sense business-wise, do not even bother to reply with more than "we respond to market requests", if it works, it works.
2. Massive (the oldest of the bunch, since 2007), Serum, Falcon, Synthmaster they are all WT-capable. Special mention for Serum and Falcon which accept pictures drag&drop - 2C Kaleidoscope's image library and fractals make some out of the world wavetables instantly - no cut, no wav bounce, no nothing. Not to mention FM8, the actual synth that started the dubstep madness (extensively used by Skrillex).

But really, dubstep is dead, not because I don't like it but because is objectively dead: not even Skrillex makes dubstep anymore, that's how dead it is. It may worth explore Trap for instance, looks to be the successor of dubstep. By the way, as successor of "edm" Future Strike was spot on! It is the music of today.

As for requests, is not my duty to ask them. Roland was not asking music producers what drum sounds they needed before making the 909 or what library sounds they wanted before releasing the 1080. Access asked no one before relasing the viruses (no pun intended). They just created new stuff (you know, an attack from here, a tail from that, multilayered, the age-old formula) and they pushed the music forward. I don't know if this "Rapid can do it too" attitude works better than "Only with Rapid you can have these unique sounds".

Mmmm... sorry, not at all. Bigroom is an EDM subgenre. Not important here though.

I wrote “edm” in quotes because the mainstream clubbers/producers used to call bigroom as “edm”. I just tried to avoid confusion about what kind of style I am referring to. I hope it was clear though.

- Dubstep wub-wubs and growls are still actively used in psyglitch/psybass subgenres. These are not exactly mainstream but definitely have some niche popularity (at least had in 2016-2017, not sure if it's "current" enough  ).

- Even if you don't use wub-wubs in your own music, such sounds are a good test for wavetable FX and LFOs/steppers, they can show what the synth can do in this area. Rapid is a synth, not a rompler after all.

- I'm not very familiar with mainstream EDM but I have an impression that one can never guess what sounds will be the next big thing. Maybe 2019 will be the year of glorious return of the wub-wubs (because of Rapid :) )

One song 2K views and the other one 900 since 2016, "niche" is a pretty big overstatement here :)

"they can show what the synth can do in this area" - can't argue with that, but does one needs a full-fledged pack for that or just a handful of factory presets?

"I'm not very familiar with mainstream EDM but I have an impression that one can never guess what sounds will be the next big thing." - I was trying to make a point. Of course making something just "fresh" may be very well hit and miss. However this still doesnt justify making something a decade old: is not old enough to be vintage (like the 80s synth/pop/wave recurrence now days), is just obsolete for the moment because for several years the festivals were only about wubs. And cymatics released dozens of wubs. And Serum have hundreds thousands of wubs. I'm willing to bet that people that needed wubs they have wubs by now.

@Mirko: While writing this post got me thinking on what's old but still rocks on: listen Mayores f. Bad Bunny from Becky G and Lento f. Thalia from Gente de Zona. This latino/reggaeton blend never dies and constantly gathers ground in the US. Sounds roughly the same since forever, and there are very specific sounds required to identify with the genre. This would definitely benefit a complete preset pack including drums, percussion and sequences. From the demos, all mombah from Nexus and Avenger is somewhat around the idea, but nothing there is really spot on so there isn't a proper pack on the market right now.
