Making a waveform more symmetrical

So I have a .wav with the waveform shown:

Notice that it is rather pushed towards the top. I'd like to smooth it out vertically so that it's more symmetrical about the center, in order to preserve headroom. I tried removing DC offset in both Wavelab and Sound Forge, but neither did much (detected almost no DC offset).

Is there some other way to accomplish my goal here?

Sound Forge can do it. You do not want to automatically detect DC offset as there technically is none. It is simply the shape of the waveform to oscillate unequally that way.

In Process > DC Offset, use "Adjust DC Offset by". The numbers depend on the waveform bit depth. You'll want something like -2,000,000 at 24 bits.

Thanks. Yes, you're right.

Doing this will kind of shift the later part of the waveform so it does have DC offset. It would be nice if something like a HPF could work here; I tried that a little but without success.

Will experiment more later.

Update: I tried chaining 2 steep (36 db) HPF's and was able to remove much of the asymmetry with minimal impact on the sound.
A well-behaved signature.
