I like software.
I like music software.
I like music software I can download and just go and make music, its how I enjoy this technical musical world in which I live.

I do not like IK multimedia software
I have never used software which takes so long to load, so badly designed to constantly need to locate files against where the VST is.

I use reason 10, kontakt, komplete, native instruments, arturia, all of these I can download, install and go.

can someone please explain to me in a way I could understand why IK chooses such a backward way of loading software and the instrument packages, that I have spent two weeks fiddling, uninstalling installing, searching without playing a real note, hours of searching online for tips and advice. that is not fun. it is not productive and it is not making music.

I needed to vent as I have nearly thrown my toys out of the pram over the last few weeks with sampletank 3, Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE and syntonik, - its been like a electronic version of spinning plates, where one seems to load instruments and work then the other has no content and I have to search again, reload and start again.

Generally, IK Multimedia software does not take long to load (I could name others that take much longer) and reselecting the sounds folder is not needed.

In your position, I would contact Technical Support for some one to one troubleshooting.

Please consider that the problem may lay with your setup, and not jump immediately to a lengthy rant bashing IK. Lots of us (including me) use IK software without technical issue. Maybe there is some incompatibility with your system that IK can or should address; have you even tried contacting support? There's nothing in your rant indicating that you have.

(All that said, I do think IK has its customer service / ordering issues, but those are addressed ad nauseum in other threads.)

Ik works well here ... let's talk about Soniccouture's Kontakt libraries, especially the Electro Ac ... forget about it ... call IK support!

I don't have the slow loading issue, but I've run into the reload issue a few times. You have to install ST3 first before installing Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE and Syntronik. In my case, I installed Syntronik before installing ST3. When I opened Syntronik, it was looking in the ST3 folder for its samples. It was odd to me, but I guess it makes sense cause you can use Syntronik samples in ST3.

I know of users who have installed MP2 / Syntronik without previously installing ST3.

But you are right, they all go into a main "SampleTank 3" folder, so that ST3 can load any of the instruments from those other products too.

And, of course, we will have ST4 soon.

Right. I had Syntronik installed before I installed ST3. So after the ST3 install and I opened up Syntronik, I got the pop up about the ST3 directory or something like that.
