This is a feature I've been missing sorely since I sold my Logic license, and if this works as advertised, it could be the deciding factor for a host switch. I would be obliged if someone with an SX3 license could try this to see if it works and report back.To extract the groove from a MIDI part, you select the part and select “Part to Groove” from the Advanced Quantize submenu on the MIDI menu.
In both cases, the resulting groove appears on the Quantize menus and you apply it as you would any Quantize preset. You can also view and edit the resulting quantize settings in the Quantize Setup dialog.

I went to Steinberg's site to read about SX3, and the following tidbit peaked my interest:

Can you create a template directly from a MIDI track in SX2? I thought you could only use an audio track as a source for the groove template?scandipandy wrote:it works great in SX 2 !
(With the tedious workaround of bouncing the MIDI track, analyzing the resulting audio and generating a groove from it)

SX2 has the same option MIDI >> Advanced Quantize >> Part to Groove.HelgeG wrote:Can you create a template directly from a MIDI track in SX2? I thought you could only use an audio track as a source for the groove template?scandipandy wrote:it works great in SX 2 !
Groove management was not improved in SX3, still no groove folders (like VST 5.x) and no easy way to share grooves with other users.
