(THis sounds kind of ad-y but I have no affiliation, just a happy repeat customer of Humble Bundle)
Humble Bundle, who sell games and books, with part of the proceeds going to charity, have just launched a new book bundle of MIT's textbooks in DRM-free digital format specifically focussed on computer music. That's the the academic side of computer music, but for anyone interested, it looks like a pretty decent set of books, I own several of them in (actually pretty expensive) dead-tree format, and its worth it to me to get them in PDF format.
Pay what you want, with a minimum price for each of 3 tiers starting at $1 for 5 books, to $15 for the full set of 16. Paper editions come to over $600.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I bought the whole bundle. Rather heavy stuff but good for inspiration and digging into a more theoretical view on composition.
Edit: I see now that it's so much more than composition. It's music history, science, culture... fantastic collection.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads-up whyterabbyt!
Humble Bundle has unfortunately taken a real dive in quality ever since IGN acquired it.. so I've kind of boycotted them ever since (by not giving a humble tip and putting everything in charity) but I think this bundle is too hard to pass up on. I may have to tip them this time to encourage more of this kind of stuff.
Cheers!

I got an email about this bundle and I’ve been mulling it over. On the one hand, it seems like a no brainer. On the other, I’m skeptical whether I’ll ever actually read these books once I buy them. So far, my track record has been that I never read any digital books that I buy. There is something so much more appealing about reading a physical paper book which encourages me to pick it up. Let’s face it, if I pick up my iPad, I’m probably not going to end up opening a book on it.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
