Can someone provide me with the beta wrapper so I can try out Emulator X in FL Demo, please? I want to see if they will work well for me before buying and I can't access the loop talk forum. Does it let Emu X work in orion also?

The way the FL recording is implemented internally won't allow (real) loop recording at the moment but we are investigating a simple restart when the recording finished the end of the selection.

This won't be perfect but it should work/help in most cases ...

Maybe if you run FL as a VSTi/DXi or Rewire client in Orion ...

PeLease don't get your hopes up too high. I said 'investigating' ... so I don't have a clue if it'll work or be usefull for what you have in mind as looprecording.

Talking about it : what DO you have in mind with it ?

I like the way that sonar 4 has implemented loop recording. when you record each pass through the loop is a new track(that gets stacked within the same track), its more like a consecutive series of takes than a overdub on each pass.

Thank friggin god the question has been answered!!! Hopefully this will be the last thread that mentions loop recording...at least until FL 5 comes out :)

Post

well jmc, since you asked....

i bought orion because fl didn't have loop record. but orion does not have a "wrap" on render which i find makes it extremely painful to construct loops...

at a minimum i'd like to be able to define the length of pattern and know that every part of that pattern will be the set length. i hate being surprised by a pattern "doubling"

then you want to hit record and start pumping in the midi data - you know what we mean surely ? it gets to the end of the pattern and loops to the beginning.

for me this would be midi only - no need for any sort of complex audio looping

The idea we're playing with ATM is not to make it do anything at all but just let FL restart at the end of the recording.

This could (and probably will) result in a delay when FL restarts so I can only repeat not to get your hopes up too high.

I dont think that would be a big deal as long as you did a count in at every restart so even if there is a delay, you can get back on time...

Post

if you can set a pattern length and "jam" with midi then that'll do me fine. i can even live with a slight "glitch" as it loops since a little piano roll work will fix that.

that's a still a *huge* advance on the current situation.

Post

why the glitch? cause its set record audio too?

why dont you just make it to deal with the midi recording this way only?
