the key word there of coarse is
"I'd rather listen to"
another BIG thing here is of coarse Mark King could play that stuff one arm behind his back smoking a joint while doing a handstand.

Hehe, the key word is 'best', of course it's a purely subjective opinion. How could it not be?topaz wrote:the key word there of coarse is

I bet he couldn't, he'd keep throwing in little widdly salppy bits and ruin the song. I've played with daft c**ts like that, can't stop themselves showing off!topaz wrote:

The Best is reserved for the playground

Well, perhaps the title should have been, 'most technical show off guitar solo' then'?topaz wrote:of coarse, thats why the thread should read

not at all
they did the Princes Trust concert some years ago as house band, there was all sort of pop acts on there, he just played simple lines.
remember If I was , midge Ure ? that was Mark King playing very simple, tbh it could of been any old bassist on that track.

in that case thank f**k for showing off
as well as simple stuff.
I love it all.

so it's "fav solo" not best.

Steely Dan Kid Charlemagne Larry Carlton Solo
perfect in everyway.
IMO

Ah, in terms of favourites, I'm not much of a connoisseur of the geetar tholo, but I'm rather fond of the one on 'Motorcycle Emptiness' by The Manics (before they went crap).
Generally I loathe squalling guitar solos though, that's what synthesizers are for!

Pat Martino, Live! album from 1972.
That whole album is one non-stop incendiary solo after solo. No one can swing as hard as Pat, IMHO.
