Hi,

I have 2 DAWS (Cubase = Primary, Live 10 = Secondary) and I want to do the captioned tasks in Cubase. One youtube Vid showed me that by using Agent LE can do the chopping but is it the only way to do it ? On the other side, Live 10 is pretty easy to archive this kind of result (simpler) and I can pitch each slice as I wish.

Don't have any idea on how to do it in Cubase. I also found that IL Edison and SliceX very capable to do these kind of things. Edison can do the recording and then I saw a youtuber played a note and then recorded it into Edision. By doing that, he loaded it back in Live and do the reverse. Bang .... it helps him to do the rise/drop kind of thing..... Do I need to buy Edison and SliceX to strengthen the sample features of Cubase ?

One more question, as I just recently upgraded and picked up FL20 again. Is there a way to draw a chord in piano roll in Cubase/Live 10?

Regards!

Cubase has a feature called “sampler track”, it may be what you need... I never use it, though; I use Maschine for drums (working from one-shots) and TAL Sampler for keyboard sounds (I usually sample my own). I can’t comment on Groove Agent: it’s a nice tool, but I didn’t spend time with it.
As for chopping loops, that’s not my thing, but I think sometimes you can also edit them straight as an audio track, without the need of a sampler...
Sometimes I do that after recording a part of an external drum machine, if I need to quickly change a section in a draft...

As for chords, I don’t understand the question, you can input whatever you want on a midi / instrument track in Cubase.

Are you trying to chop breaks? Cubase was THE DAW of choice at one point for that kind of stuff. If this helps, check out this guy’s YouTube channel. He’s kind of a sample chopping guru. He does Cubase, Renoise, and Logic tutorials. Here’s a Cubase one:

I use audio *parts* (as opposed to simple audio clips). You can chop up audio in Cubase, within a part, and then manipulate the slices very nicely. But I'm still using Cubase 6.5, so there may be better options in later versions.
A well-behaved signature.

Thanks ALL for your valuable input.

@sin night. FL Studio can use the pencil tool to "draw" the chord with all notes in one time. That means if I chose C major and I can "draw" all 3 notes in the piano roll in one click. It is very handy tool for me as I can't remember all those major / minor 7 (you name it) chords....

Right now, other than using captain chords, I don't have any idea to hand draw chords in Live and Cubase.

In Cubase, when in the key editor (piano roll view) to the left of the screen you will see a tab called "Chord Editing." Click on it and it will open up. If you want to enter a a three note chord (triad), click on what you require, be it a maj, min, etc. Then move over and click the note into the piano roll. Whatever note you are clicking on will be the root and the two accompanying notes of the chord will automatically be entered above the root.

I'd recommend watching as many Youtube vids as you can, or perhaps buying something like Groove3's how to vids on Cubase.
