Anything better than Audacity?

for some reason i misunderstood the op, i was thinking only of free software, in which case i recommend Wavosaur. However, if you are looking for paid ones as well, that increases the number of apps. to recommend dramatically.
my personal preference is for Soundforge which i have used for a few years now. before i used Soundforge i used an app call CoolEdit Pro which these days is known as Adobe Audition. A good program for editing audio with multi-track option but, it is prohibitively expensive. most DAWs have adequate audio editing internally, Studio One, Samplitude, FL Studio ( which has a great internal editor called Edison ( also a VST plugin i believe. in fact i can't really think of an app. that DOESN'T have audio editing. It comes down to how much you are looking to spend. as for editors i don't get on with, Wavelab : ) just personal opinion..

Ocenaudio is too buggy IMO, hence I switched to Audacity.
The repair function in Audacity is fantastic btw. I use it to remove clicks and glitches from vinyl recordings.

Looking at RX7 caused me to research others like it, becuase I cant afford RX7. I found i already have everything it can do or at least mostly in Audacity. I dont' think people realize, audacity has upgaraded their UI and includes an additional dark theme to use now. It looks 10X better than the original plain look. It has just about all the mastering tools you need, like compressors, eq's, vocal removal, etc, plus you can load your own fx plugins. I feel like buying another mastering tool would be overkill given what you can do with this one:

iZotope has sales from time to time, and you can get the entry level version of their apps pretty cheap.
For those thinking of WavePad, I think it's only 32-bit, so if you're on Mojave you probably don't need to even check it out.

+1 for Acoustica. Just started using it for mastering and just find it a much smoother and intuitive experience than other options i've tried (DSPQuattro, Ozone, Triumph...) and comes with a ton of great plugins for audio editing and restoration. It also has a two versions, the intro one is pretty cheap.

well, except for RX7's core business, ie state-of-the-art noise and artefact removal, one presumes?ubailey wrote: Mon Jan 28, 2019 10:02 pm Looking at RX7 caused me to research others like it, becuase I cant afford RX7. I found i already have everything it can do or at least mostly in Audacity.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

I would mostly need it only for vocal removals. All other features im sure i can achieve with the other tons of fx plugins i havewhyterabbyt wrote: Tue Jan 29, 2019 1:37 pmwell, except for RX7's core business, ie state-of-the-art noise and artefact removal, one presumes?ubailey wrote: Mon Jan 28, 2019 10:02 pm Looking at RX7 caused me to research others like it, becuase I cant afford RX7.
