I have some questions concerning Cakewalk Homestudio 2 and I wonder if someone can provide some answers.

What’s the maximum number of virtual instruments(vst or dxi)can you call up at one time?

Is there support for multiple-output virtual instruments like Fxpansion DR-005 and Computer Music's DS-404?

Is a dongle required for use of Homestudio 2?

Unlimited audio and MIDI tracks. In Sonar (and so I assume HS2) a softsynth takes at least one of each. It seems odd at first, but when you understand why they do it that way, it makes sense.

Second, it uses the same VST adapter (the former FXpansion one) that Sonar uses. I can't verify that it does multitimbral correctly, but I don't know why it wouldn't, but I can't confirm for sure.

Finally, no dongle (and no C/R). Cakewalk simply uses serial number - be aware it's not transferrable/resellable, however.

I started with Home Studio 2002 before upgrading to Sonar2.2 (I haven't gone to 4 yet). Had HS2 (aka 2004 V2) been where it's at now, I probably wouldn't have gone to Sonar2 - but I also have FLS as a host.
