i still dont see the point of having such intense discussion since it wount change anything. Massive X is coming with the vision developers have in their mind whatever you like it or not.

I dont care about the filter as long as synth sounds good with it. And reaktor ensambles like Monark, Form, Rounds do sound very good, if Massive X sounds that good, it can use dust filter, i dont care :D Only thing about filter is i hope synth will have Scream filter.

He operates with these little bits of information he's inordinately proud of and in the Dunning-Krugerness of it all the ass he pulls these nuggets is so grand it's beyond question; so he embarks on these little gems of desperate sophistry*, further convincing himself of the Truth According To BONES. He knows what he likes = he likes what he knows.

(*: "In any event, who knows how much EQ or other studio trickery they had to dial in to get them to sound that way?" Yeah, in every case it must be that the Phat Moog Bass is studio trickery. Since this argument is circular to your excellent premise, go for it. It beats thinking. :idiot:)

I am just so grateful that there are some people here I will never have to meet in real life.

I didn't find his music exactly an illustration of superior synth sound design, it's very generic average regular synth sounds.
But the thing is, it's tedious to see 'I have teh superior taste' and these weak arguments trying to prove essentially just that. And it's Objective Truth via the magic of his special knowledge.

Vurt, you're actually one of the people here I wish I could meet. You, Jan, Jon and quite a few others. There are some extremely knowledgeable and nice people in this place. Believe me, there are quite a few I'd love to spend just one day with to pick their brains. You for modular, Jan for musical composition.

But yeah, there are some here I am thankful for the distance the Internet puts between us. And for some, even that's too close.

Only member here I have met irl was Rurik. Nice man, he rode his motorcycle out to my area in Tucson while I was there, to do me a big favor.

Honestly Massive was one of the most versatile (with simple GUI) synth plugins ever created (now we have more like that). It's not synth that suck but the unskilled operator.
Guys... you should really give some love to your synths and not judge after a few seconds long preset juggling. I know I'm asking for too much: tweaking your synth :P
Massive has very clear limitations and definitely shows its age in terms of sound quality. Massive absolutely cannot create everything like you claim, all you need to do is take a newer NI plugin like Monark or TRK Bass and compare very basic sound patches like a 1osc bass. The sound quality difference is staggering. In fact in terms of overall sound quality Massive actually reminds me of Propellerheads Subtractor a synth that predates Massive by six whole years. It obviously has more features than Subtactor but the sound quality is of a similar generation.

Age has nothing to do with sound quality.

Massive sound is a bit dirty, but it was meant to be like this, then if you don't like this sound i wonder why you mention Monark which sound even more dirtier.

A synth like Monark is not versatile, it is hard to go away the analog sound rendering.

FM8 is even older than massive, but the sound is very pristine & transparent.

I quote this:

Yes there is quality difference but if you find that a problem to make good music in the end with 100 percent confidence im saying to you, you suck at sound design and probably suck as a musician, because if that wouldnt be true Sylenth1 and Massive wouldnt be still amongst the most used synths.

Two actually quite more limited synths. :dog:

All this trying to persuade people their experience of a sound is wrong is just absurd. This is bullshit.

First the premise is it should be more things than it is, but that's out the window as soon as you start to try and prove your disposition is more than just a disposition.

I choose an instrument for what it is. Massive is not a favorite synth but the once I did feature it it would be irreplaceable.
If I want a piccolo flute, I'm not going to choose any_other_instrument for that part. If I want portamento, Theremin-esque Minimoog, that's the instrument. It would have to be a proper emu of it at least. I can't make a saxophone do a trombone portamento, or make a violin do the opening 'gliss' in Rhapsody in Blue. I can't make Massive be Skanner. I can't make anything else be Absynth. Et cetera.

That's not how a fact works. That's at best supposition and in all likelihood only a statement of your limitations as a sound designer. Or simply you getting in your own way as to perception, stuck on bad premises. Your opinions based in your opinion.

Trying to use a hammer when a screwdriver is needed and then, after the hammer doesn't work, the user accuses the hammer of being a bad tool.

That is the KVR way. Gotta love it.
