How to stop a track from automatically record-arming when clicking on it (Reason 10)

New to Reason. Whenever I click onomputer seemingly has this glitch where if I do that while the playhead is hovering over a sample, or you load a sample in a track, it automatically record-arms it and monitors it so that you can hear it. Starts off at a normal level and dramatically increases volume in an instant, and just keeps going and it sounds like my soundcard is imploding on itself. Glitch doesn't bother me much in the context that I don't use monitoring on audio tracks, but since it automatically record-arms the track unless I'm especially careful where I click, it's given me quite a few jumpscares and it's rather irritating. (Clicking the arrow to drop down a track doesn't do this.)
Please help for the sake of my poor ears :?

Read the manual? Or at least go through the settings - it's there... :(
