the Crave
Arturia MicroFreak (I just want the keyboard!)
PO Modular
Volca Modular
Buchla Thunder overlay for the Sensel Morph
The Crave sounds and looks interesting especially for the price
Arturia missed the opportunity to make the MicroFreak keyboard MPE capable. By looking at what technology they use, it should be possible... (I would say just without the keyboard unless a firmware update would give us more dimensions...)
The Buchla Thunder overlay is way too expensive, almost twice as much as the other overlays... I‘ll draw my own...

I was hoping that Soundtoys would suprise us with a big brother of their "Little Plate". Maybe next time
in version 6 of their (anyway awesome) bundle. But hey, Toontrack's announcement of EZBass was
a real suprise to me. The wrote that it will be available in Q4/2019. Can't wait to try it out.

Definitely a bit underwhelming. But then, it's hard to get overwhelmed these days. :)

What i always wonder though is if we really need the gazillionth iteration of a restrictedanalog mono synth. I mean, i get that those are popular, and people love gadgets, and they sell like hot cakes, but...

The McDSP APB-16 is one of the greatest inventions probably ever at NAMM. Think about it fully reconfigurable analogue hardware that can be programmed into different circuits such as EQs, compressors, limiters, saturators etc etc, which then act as a DAW plugin and have sample accurate recall & automation. Isn’t that the stuff of Sci-if? This is something previously thought to be impossible. It’s up there with Autotune and Melodyne DNA technology in terms of being a breakthrough.

Theoretically I’m guessing these same principles could be used to engineer reconfigurable analogue synths. Think of an analogue synth that could be reconfigured into a MiniMoog, Prophet 5, Oberheim, Drum Machine or Odyssey etc. And is fully software controlled via DAW plugins. This is huge!

No, you are not the only one. Every year I get dissapointed when Roland does not announce a MC909 II with loads of memory, same trig features as elektron gear and at least three different synth engines, including analog. Have I really been that bad all through the years, Santa?

However, I am more than happy for any dissapointments. That means my budget will survive. Arturia’s Microfreak has been a little tempting, not at least due to its randomization features. That is the way to go to get my attention.
