Should be fine if you like Acid. I have the pro equivalent I guess. Version 8, should be pretty
similar. It's a perfectly good DAW, and far from the toy many believe it to be. Still, not for
everyone. If you want to do loop based audio production, it's a viable means of achieving that,
certainly...
For me it's mostly nostalgia, but I like the DAW, definitely. I'd suggest demoing it, see if it works
for you. It's got some nice features to be sure.

Magix has too many DAWS is my first opinion. And my 2nd one is why haven't they released some kinda of hardware because DAWs like Acid and Music Maker are perfect compliments to the loop based production market that Akai is starting to corner with only NI edging themselves in. Maybe even team up with a company like Novation who makes great controllers but don't have music software.

I think people should be wise to the fact that Magix are not innovators, they are tinkerers. They buy whole portfolios of products developed by others, play around with the gui, add content, maybe change a few relatively minor things and fix a few bugs but they don't really seem to do much serious development of anything once they own it. To be bought up by Magix is the kiss of death really in creative terms.

It's true, MAGIX is not really a company you can get behind. Clearly, they are looking
to get the greatest return on the least amount of expenditure. And they will resort
to every trick in the book to separate you from your hard earned cash.
The sad part about it, imho, I get a real sense from forums and whatnot that they
employ some fine developers who genuinely want to improve the products given
them. It seems like they are stymied in that, by the greed and impatience of their
shareholders.

Then it’s not so different. It’s just Acid in 64 bit. With some features you’ll appreciate if you used it much at all back in the day. Maybe not much, as it’s the cut down version. If you have 6 you should try to upgrade to 8. As it’s much more comprehensive I’d wager.
You can upgrade during a sale for 80-100 bucks, dunno if that would be worth it to you.

Seems about right. Was Vandal bought by Magix or was there where it started? For some reason I can't recall where Samplitude and the products Sascha was involved with came from.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Feb 02, 2019 10:31 amTo be bought up by Magix is the kiss of death really in creative terms.

The GUI from ACID Pro 8 gives me vertigo,so I still use the v7 x86 version that Sony released...
It's a great program for creating collages of sound where any structural consideration gives way to the collision of aural acceptance
I'm convinced that the genius who came up the colour scheme for Magix ACID Pro 8 is completely colour blind...
If they were to include the ACID Pro 7 GUI with the less offensive colour scheme,I would consider moving on to the x64 version, but the "vintage version" works just fine for now....
I agree that there doesn't seem to be a lot of real product development at Magix when they take over products from other companies...
Just a bit of tinkering at the edges and lots of paint
No auto tune...

Samplitude was started by Sek'd and sold to Magix about 2000, I think some or one of the original programmers was also involved... If I remember correctly Sacha worked with then from 2002..morelia wrote: Sun Feb 03, 2019 12:02 amSeems about right. Was Vandal bought by Magix or was there where it started? His contribution was the AM-Suite, FX-Suite, Vandal , essentialFX Suite, I also think the Variverb and the Robot(ic??) drum machine. Magix is a confusing operation BUT they have put new life into the Sony abandoned Vegas, SoundForge and Acid.. so not all bad... but!!!!!
