Problem with merging Midi clips

Hi, i am fairly new to this and havent found anything that related to my problem.
I am trying to create a base sound of strings for a song and want to add one bar at the end. i have played the two clips on a seaboard rise with equator as a plug in. when i try to merge the two clips they do merge but as soon as they are merged there is no sound from the clip when i play it. when i use the merge they do create sound when i hit play.

What am i missing or doing wrong?
