Wait for a statement or ask him.
It is discontinued on his page and I cant even download the 1.10 update now from his page which I am entitled to as a customer who bought thorn... this is really bad business practice and no consent was given to give our email adress to pa.. Absolutely no communication from dimitry.. really really shocked and disappointed
I download it 4 hours ago form their page. But now they have removed the link.

Okay, that's pretty sketchy. You should definitely be able to continue to have access to the product you purchased without paying PA's ransom.

Hear hear.

I think that was just a work-for-hire thing. NF/Plugivery hold the rights to the product.

I'm so disappointed about the move to PA. I really liked DS Audio and I really dislike Plugin Alliance. I own all three DS plugins. Owned, rather. Since I can't download them anymore and my license appears to be obsolete. I wonder if it can even be sold.

I'm sure lots of people like PA but IMO their pricing on most plugins is absolutely ridiculous and their license transfer policy is so patently anti consumer I've avoided buying any of their plugins. It's so immediately obvious that you're paying a not-insignificant "membership" fee on top of the price of the plugin when you buy from PA. I hate being gouged like that.

I doubt I'll be paying for 1.2. Maybe I'll upgrade when they put out a worthwhile update as long as the price doesn't go up to 50 dollars or something. Not ruling anything out. edit: never mind. It won't go up to $50. It will go up to $200. That's correct, if you don't redeem your "discount" by March 5, you pay full price for a plugin you already own

another important question is, are we going to have to pay for every DS product? Will it be another $20 each when they update Diversion and Tantra?

They're still on the server BTW - so grab 'em now and keep for backup if you don't want to pay to upgrade to 1.2:

Or just contact him or PA and ask about it. Ah, well, i guess public name and shame is so much better, and more powerful. Really, i don't know who of you ever contacted, and corresponded with him. He really doesn't deserve crap like this. Nor does any other company.
IMO we're far from drama or shaming. People are just stating their opinions on a discussion forum. I guess we can all agree that Dmitry did great work in the past. But some people don't like the fee. It's great that you don't mind. I don't think it's good business practice. And giving away personal data without consent is objectively unacceptable (and depending on your location illegal). Lots of stuff that can be debated in public.

Otherwise, he'd have to cease and desist, of course informing us that we would not be eligible for any future upgrades. Once all this was done, THEN and ONLY then would all this be on the up and up.
Yes, this x 1000000000, well said, Wagtunes.

This.

Whether the guy is/was a friendly guy is irrelevant. What we are talking about, is this way of doing business.
* They asked no permission to transfer personal data.
* The new asking price is ~240 dollar (VAT included). Is somebody seeing dollar signs in their eyes?
* Existing customers are 'happy' to get an upgrade. But only for a limited time. Oh thanks, should I be happy now? And for what, according to the e-mail? For a change in internal infrastructure. How is this my problem?
* It would have been much better communicationwise to mention that the upgrade includes some preset banks. That would have been a much better way to sell this. Again handled very badly.

People stating that you should ask Dmitry about it. This is irrelevant. Dmitry/PA should have contacted US to ask permission to transfer the personal data. Not the other way round.
 Nicely done. At least some people here get it.

I don't think for one minute that anyone is accusing anybody of a deliberate act or any malice was involved at all.

A lot of people, me included, are simply dumbfounded as to how this was handled so badly by all concerned.

The time limit that PA have put on the 'upgrade voucher' is just rubbing salt in the wound :x
Yep.

Lots of companies offer limited time to download their products or a certain amount of times it can be downloaded. He could just as easily said "I'm moving to P-A so your downloads will no longer be available after tomorrow so please get your backup downloaded. P-A won't allow current customers to download from them without paying a fee so sorry about that." I personally have no issue with the way this was handled. He didn't sell his customers to another company, he's simply shifting his service to them. P-A is a go

The fee is really out of his control by the sounds of it and it makes sense since they will likely have a lot of people wanting to download the update. That's a lot of data. Plus they handle the licensing now for it. My question is what about Tantra and Diversion? I'm not seeing them on my P-A account.

Problem is: He never stated it (not to mention that some people didn't receive his email yet). Instead, the download link disappeared without further notice. This should not happen - and honestly I think DS will correct this.

Meanwhile the download link has been published anyway and no mod came along to edit the post.

I can understand that. Not backing up your installers is pretty careless though (i mean that generally, not you personally). Every company could cease to exist tomorrow.

And, again, i'm sure that Dmitry will happily provide you with the installers, if you ask nicely.
