And, again, i'm sure that Dmitry will happily provide you with the installers, if you ask nicely.

In my case (and at least another member's situation) I never knew of an update at all since there was no notice and I'm not spotting KVR all the time. Of course I had stored the early installer safe and secure. So for me this could have been annoying, however, all went good eventually.

And as you said: Contacting the Dev should solve those issues, particularly if happening while the 'momentum' takes place.

Asking for downloads after years of purchase is a service no one can demand. That's also true.

Guys Dimitry' reply makes much more sense.. just got this reply from him via email.... I know this was not handled well in terms of communication but I am still willing to support Dimitry. ...

"Hello Winston, I'm sorry for the late reply and lack of the information,

Today is not an easy day for me, it was a significant delay before we release news at Plugin Alliance and provide information from my side. I now have joined with Plugin Alliance, which I strongly believe will help me a lot to keep alive on the current market and improve quality of services needed to be provided today for companies who sell audio plugins. But the major downside of this process is that we have to charge $19 for transition from previous version of Thorn to the 1.2 at PA. I have never thought before that I can ever ask extra charge for updates, but now it is reality. We're trying to compensate the transition fee by including 3 sound banks free of charge to Thorn's factory library. Here you could check as well the list of changes made for Thorn 1.2:

⁃ Thorn is distributed by Plugin Alliance now
⁃ Integrated Plugin Alliance framework with toolbar and authorization scheme
⁃ Thorn Essentials, HouseMaster One and Thorn Expansion 2 by Rob Lee are in the factory library now, free of charge
⁃ Modulation depth can be modulated now without issues
⁃ MIDI CC is working now when ARP is turned on
⁃ Thorn now returns text values to be displayed in automation lanes for AAX / VST3 / AU
⁃ Removed Optimize Polyphony option, will be returned later
⁃ Fixed automation smoothing issue
⁃ Fixed a crash when opening AAX page-table
⁃ Fixed minor preset loading issues on Windows

That's the list of regular changes for any minor update, and for sure not enough for any fees. The upgrade cost is mostly the price for getting Plugin Alliance services.
I have made a tough choice to join Plugin Alliance, I have been thinking on it for a long time. I really hope to not loose people who trusted me, since I'm doing all of this for the future sake.

Let me know please Winston if you have any question or any thought to share,
Dmitry"

So there you have it.. warts and all.. but I will rather give him support in light of how tough it must be for him and for him to survive in this game...

At least the presets does make up for the transfer fee and the fact that I can put my license on a usb and use it on multiple computers in addition to two othe activations helps to soften the transition. ... So yes my heart is softening on this especially when a persons survival in this game of software development depends on really really tough decisions

Yeah got the same email, Iam fine with 1.10. no issues and i basically got it as a gift. because iam special.
Not keen on PA and their installer manager. I avoid them like the plage/ But still support DS
Ableton Live 10, Korg Monologue. Various vst's and effects

I already bought the two Rob Lee expansions... :scared:

There is NOTHING interesting in this upgrade ! :dog:

Isn't it sad when this move to PA generates more pages of posts overnight than talking about Thorn ever did?

I have written them a nice text that didn't contain any offensive language in their facebook group, but they have censored it. At least is what I think. Can't find it.

That's really disappointing.

Their Facebook community is remarkably quite about this marketing disaster. Normally the fanboys swallow each crazy move of PA with hooray...

Wonder what results ($) a kickstarter campaign would achieve.

Headline: "Free Dmitry!" :hihi:

Suggested investment: $18.99 (one cent less than PA's asking for their renowned newsletter terror service)

And/or Patreon, to finance his accountant and website/support personnel.

Guys, $19 is no money to keep a very nice and competent software developer alive. Life is not for free: Get real!!! :dog:

Finally this thread becomes interesting... :tu:

Anyone running the PA 1.2 version under Mac Studio One v4? I can only insert AU as mono instance and there are massive CPU spikes. VST3 has super laggy gui, but inserts as stereo.

This is unacceptable. I expect my software developers to be my bitch at all times. This act of trying to keep his business viable is treachery at its finest.

Ok.

But it’s Ok to get free stuff just because you didn’t get any more updates. Apparently, existing customers won’t get updates unless they pay $19 before 5th March. Should those who don’t pay in time issue chargebacks? I mean, Thorn 1.1 is now abandonware.
