I've got the CM version, dunno how it compares to the full version. I've had it installed for ages but always forget its there. I'll have to give it a go.

FWIW, my snares are always multi-layered, I tend to tune them together by ear and often use a tom as the fundamental.

sorry, that is true... he did ask that.

but there is a CM version, which is nearly free....

You can try MTuner. It is completely free and is a part of MFreeEffectsBundle, which includes another 26 plugins ;)

Thanks to everyone for your tips! :)

I've already tried GTune and like it a lot. Simple and effective - it does just what I need. But to see how it compares, I will also try MTuner soon.

My age-old tuner VST has finally been deleted. No more 32 bits now...

VSTs like Photosounder Spiral are way too complicated for my purposes (not to mention the steep price). I'm a musician, not a scientist. :)

@H-man: I'll have to answer your question with Yes and No. It's not always, or not necessarily monophonic material I use a tuner for. When I tune an old tape song that's out of pitch, I search for a spot where just one note is played (guitar or keyboard), loop that very note and then tune it via my DAW's pitch correction. This, of course, will bring the complete song into the correct pitch.

Free, 64 Bit, and it doesn't install a ton of other plugins..............
This tunner is messing up in FM8 - regularly showing half lower freq.

Dude that post is nearly three years old. Why would you dig it up ?

I still use G Tune for my guitar and it's spot on but I use it on Win 7 64 Bit. If you think there is an issue then contact the developer. Graham's email is on the following page:

Because Bitwig still dont have a tuner and it is useful thing for setting FM ratios in Bazille. Try to use G Tune this way and u will see that it is often showing half lower freq. I ve tried 5 vst tuners and all fails in FM in similar way. Tuner should be in DAW /like in Ableton - where it works/.

BTW: If you need tuner for its own regular purpose, it says that you may not be a good musician.

I dont understand how tuning your FM is any different then "regular purpose" or you not trying to tune a tone you can't tell the pitch of because 99% of people don't have perfect pitch?

If you dont hear that guitar is out of tune and you need a tuner for that - you may not have ears of musician.
If you work in FM and do extra low freq, its even for well train musician easy to miss even one semitone, while you need precise setting, so partials would fall exactly where they should etc.
But I am just saying, it may .....

BTW in Bazille you have only 12 semitone range and multiply - if you want set up 87 Hz, you have to use calculator, or you can use tuner and just set the value of multiply higher/ lower till you get 87 - it much faster and easier. Also if you combine waveforms in PD, its final pitch can also be in some modes changed, so the tuner may come in so low and distorted tunes really handy..

People who manage to use something properly for its intended purpose are obviously inadequate compared to the geniuses failing to get any of them to work for their 'special' use case.

What are you talking about? I am just saying, that Bitwig should have tuner, for what ever reason - may it be for another guys like you that don´t hear its instrument is out off tune :phones: ... Have a good year/ ages.

If you need a tuner to set FM Ratios it says you may not be a good sound designer.

Anyway digging up this thread 9 months after it died after already digging up a 3 year old thread ? Couldn't you find anything more current to argue about ?

Stop digging up old threads !

Just saying G tune same like other vst tuners in this thread is miss-reading freq. of Bazille and it is much faster to set freq of modulator this way, than calculating ratios.

This thread should help others to find good tuner for any reason. I am sure not only one using Bazille and BW and this post may still help others, so chillax man.

Maybe BW designers should always before implementing new stuff ask you whether you need it. If you dont need it, it is for sure useless for everybody. :borg:
