I just sent a link to this thread to Plugin Alliance in a message through their support system so let's wait to see what they say....or don't.

They don't always allow it or, if they do, it's not obvious how to go about it. OTOH, nothing could be easier than saving them in Orion's .prs format and I know exactly where they end up, which makes back-up and migration to a new machine much less hassle. Somethings are easy enough - Substance saves new patches at the end of the list, for example - but mostly I find it easier to have all my presets for every instrument in the same folder, with all the presets for Orion's own instruments and effects. It's one folder to back-up (full of sub-folders, of course) instead of a dozen.

Until Orion stops working after the next Windows update then your .prs file are worthless. Is Orion likely to stop working ? Probably not but it's stopped growing so I've moved on from using Orion ever since it was abandoned and have never looked back.

But hey whatever works for you. My system works for me and has since the first time I made an .fxp file. Backup is not a problem as most of them end up in the Documents folder. I've got custom folders with my patches inside for every plugin that allows them and I can't think of one off the top of my head that doesn't.

My old patches works just fine in Thorn 1.2 since I use the built in system but someone here complained that their patches no longer work because they used their DAW's system. No guarantee your .prs files will work in 1.2 either. Probably will but who knows until you try.

One of the things I like to do is share some of my patches for various synths here at KVR. Uploading them in .prs format would be almost worthless.......

Your fingers broken ? :hihi: In the time it took to post that you could have sent them the link yourself.

Anyway I haven't seen PA post yet so it might all have been a waste of time.....

I sent them two support tickets this weekend asking them some questions... One of which is about some specifics discussed here. I haven't heard back yet.

PA Thorn 1.2 won’t load in Bitwig 2.5 beta 5 at all (DS 1.1 loads done)
It worked in Studio One so hopefully resolved in Bitwig soon, this is probably a PA copy protection issue given 1-1 works fine.

I already use PA BYOME so had an account and 19 bucks seemed OK to me for 3 preset packs (although it seems a bit unfair to have to pay for the bug fixes if you had or didn’t want the presets).
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

but i can understand people who feel fooled...update should be free!
Thanks for the tip. Got it free here.

I'll pay for that, but I really don't like how it was done. Especially the fact, that it's only valid until march 5th for existing customers. I don't know how much I will have to pay for it if I decide to upgrade later. And also how can I know that they won't charge for future updates.
I'll buy it not to lose resaleable license. Now I'm too hurt to use it. Maybe someday I'll give it another chance.
