Which is all the more reason that FXMAX should produce FXTeleport Mac pronto - the PC version is fully PDC compliant.
Agreed, and I'm sure Max has been doing the best he can to get it out. But apulsoft beat him to it. Automatic latency compensation will be a big sticking point in the battle for network audio supremacy.

I also do like Max's implementation a little better than wormhole's (saves FX settings within host, etc.), but I've never used Teleport and I can't deny the simplicity of setup and use of wormhole either.

I do have one question about Teleport though. Say I have a VSTi and 3 VST effects serially instantiated. If each of these is a LAN plugin, does that mean that each sends and receives its own audio stream over the network?

If so, that's a huge advantage for WormHole, because you can cable up the instrument and all the FX you want, put a wormhole behind it, and send that one stream across the network. and then add some more effects to it when it gets where its going! Much less network traffic...

Yes, each plugin would use a separate network stream, but you could always remotely host a subhost plugin such as Chainer, Console or EnergyXT to minimise unnecessary traffic. So no real advantage there. I suggest you try the demo :)

In general Max has done a lot to maximise the transparency of the system - it effectively works as a wrapper, with delay compensation, automation and MIDI all correctly implemented.

Although, FXteleport does not directly allow streaming between applications. However, a plugin such as TobyBear MixBox might be able to workaround this. On the whole, I find the FX Teleport concept much more elegant, so I hope a Mac version arrives soon.

No, don't think so. What I'm saying is, the way wormhole is set up, it looks like you'll have to account for delay yourself.

Yep, I was referring to FXteleport when I said 'fully PDC compliant' :)

I will, as soon as its cross-platform! But we're still talking three streams for a VSTi right? Send MIDI to remote VSTi, receive Audio, send Audio to remote Chainer VST, receive Audio. Or can I set up a remote chainer instance with the entire VSTi/VST FX setup, and just send the MIDI there and receive the audio?

Agreed, I too think its more simple and elegant. But I also think its less flexible. It seems like they'll both have their own place beside eachother, in the long run.

D'oh. Forgot you don't have multiple PCs :hihi:

Yes. :D

Probably... It could still be handy for realtime jamming and stuff :D

Oh yeah, and you can run wormhole on as many computers as you want for only $25!!!!

And Adrian, the developer, said MIDI is coming in wormhole 2!!!!!!!

Edit: MIDI is probably coming. Sorry
