True Iron – the true sound of transformers
Add warmth and heft to your tracks and masters.
True Iron is a plugin made by Shane McFee in conjunction with Devin Powers (Powers Music Company). It accurately emulates 6 classic line transformers, known for their use in many of the biggest names in vintage analog outboard sound processing. Models are based on the UTC 108 X, the Malotki E4M – 4001B, the Western Electric 111C, the Haufe V178, the Marinair LO1166/A (new in 1.2), and the UTC O-12(new in 1.2).
Bonus: Take a look behind the scenes at some of the transformers that inspired the plugin.
Check out the True Iron User Guide (PDF) for more information about each classic line transformer.
These transformers add weight, heft, and girth to your mixes and masters. The plugin features adjustable strength, input impedance, wet/dry ratio, and a special “Crush” control to add fat transformer saturation to tracks and buses. Plus, the CPU usage of the plugin is low enough that you can add it to every track or bus in a mix for added virtual analog warmth across your entire mix.
Features
6 transformer emulations in one plugin – Models are based on the UTC 108 X, Malotki E4M – 4001B, Western Electric 111C, the Haufe V178, Marinair LO1166/A, and UTC O-12.
Strength – Adjust the tendency toward nonlinearity of the transformer, continuously variable to allow boosts and cuts in warmth while maintaining the large headroom classic transformers are known for, throughout the range of the control.
Wet/Dry Mix control – Blend just as much True Iron as you want into each track and bus in your mix, to taste.
DNA mode (new in 1.2) – This is an enhanced level of frequency response modeling based on Devin Powers’ individual transformer stereo pairs. This mode will incur additional CPU usage, but is even more accurate with the original hardware being emulated. Disabling it reverts back to the simplified,
ultra-efficient yet still highly accurate modeling used in True Iron 1.1.5 and earlier.
CPU Friendly – Run an instance of True Iron on every track and bus to elevate your mix without noticeably taxing your CPU.
Selectable input impedance – Unity (default) for convenient dropping into existing projects without apparent loudness changes, and boost for the most accurate emulation of the input stage of the modeled hardware.
Crush and Crush 2x – Add warm overdrive or distortion to your tracks, emulating the sound of transformers pushed beyond their intended operating range with up to +48dB of auto compensated gain.

This has popped up in a couple of reviews lately. I noticed it while checking out kclip (recommendation from mixbus tv on youtube). It also recently upgraded to 1.2. Demoing it now, seems interesting. Who else is using it?

I use it all the time on the mix bus, with very moderate settings, of course.
Honestly, I've demoed every saturation and tube/tape/transformer emulation out there, and this one is by far the best, in my opinion.
I don't use it as a distortion tool, though. Like I said, I use it mostly on the mix bus to glue things up, and it does this job very well.
I highly recommend it.

Use it in every session on nearly every track / element including the Masterbuss. It´s just a great little tool (well, after all those updates not so little anymore, bought it when it had only 2 transformers haha).

I'm using it on nearly every track now, though not the master bus (I usually keep that clean). Even at subtle settings it's really, really nice - and seems like the one saturation tool I would happily use on everything.

play with it in your own time, in your own private space.
just put it away, and wash your hands. thank you
