I have yet to get this thing making any sound whatsoever - installed the unlimited demo 64-bit running thru Win10 latest FL Studio 20.1.1 and it loads into the channel, but shows no presets nor can I play any keys on external keyboard or the gui keyboard, nor the gui drumpads, that will make a sound. Is it supposed to load with no presets? I recall same problem with earlier version and so I just skipped bothering with it, having same issue again with this release...
[edit] deinstalled and reran installer as admin and selected specific "installer" dir separate from the plugins dirs (don't remember seeing that first time around, when not installing as admin)
now I can see presets and play/hear patterns

Glad you sorted it out with a simple reinstall. Yes you can specify separate directories for 32/64b VST, AAS, and all formats, and also install ressources in a specific directory. (detailed install process can also be found in the manual)
The problem you had is very probably that the ressources weren't located after install in a directory you had the right permissions.

I made a little video showing that saving hundreds and hundrreds of patterns as 'presets' was indeed usefull. Made a standard beat quickly then used the Preset Manager window in Pattern mode to find some BREAK patterns and in 2 minutes I was able to find a handfull of 'working' ones. It's amazing to see that you can use a break tagged with a different genre, and also sometimes wich was programmed for a largely different tempo, and it can work with a totally different beat.

StiX 1.5 New features :

1/ Sequencer/Mixer articulation : 9 Choke Pairs
2/ Compressor on the stereo bus (inspired by Dbx design)
3/ Time dividers for the 3 envelopes (Factor range 1 to 4)
4/ Noise has it's own filter now : LPF/HPF with cut-off and Resonnance
5/ Noise direct out option : Bypass main filter
6/ Sample Direct out option : Identical to above
7/ Sample Start position offset
8/ Sample reverse mode
9/ Sample name on mouse over
10/ LFO One Shot Mode : Combined with phase reset mode.
11/ New matrixes targets : Noise Filter Cut-off and Q (4 matrixes including step mod)
12/ 475 new presets (total is now approx 2500 presets) + new demos and tutorials
13/ Updated manual with a lot of examples and practical cases.
14/ Drag'n'Drop pattern to Daw
15/ Not mentioned in Xils newsletter : The Preset Manager has been polished and enhanced

I'll cover some of the new features more in depth in the future. If some of you have questions -howto, why, etc- about these new functions, just post here I'll try to answer the best I can.
So :

1/ There are 9 chokes pairs, so you can use them for HHopen/HHclosed, but also for TomLo/TomHi, Perc1/Perc2, or BD/Snare.
2/ The compressor is inpired by DBX designs, especially suited for Drum sounds. It's only on the stereo bus, and you can insert it pre/post reverb. With big reverbs, and drastic settings + post option, you can get some impressive pumping effects. If you want to record it in your Daw affecting only some drum sounds, like Toms, or BD+ Snare, just mute the other sounds, and record the stereo out. Repeat with different sounds.
3/ Envelope Time Dividers offer very FAST envelopes. The factor is from 1 to 4. At 4 these VCA modelled envelopes will give you very precise contour control even on the shortest sounds
4/ Noise own filter : It offers access to different topologies mandatory to approach certain sounds like the TR-808 Snare (Snappyness) and Hi-Hats. In the Tr-xox series, theT-bridge topology require different parts of the sound, including the noise, going thru independant filters (and audio paths, see under). It also give access to thousands of new sounds besides these iconic ones.
5/ Noise Direct Out option : Completes the previous feature : To emulate some TR-808 etc sounds you not only need different filters, you also need separate audio paths, and the ability for the Noise oscillator to bypass the main filter.

I'll cover the other parts later.

6/ Sample Direct out option : Here again, Direct Out means bypassing the main filter. It's very usefull to preserve Oscillator 3 rich frequency content when it's set to Sample. You can add body, subs, or a variety of noise flavors using analog oscillators+ fm going thru the mainfilter, to a pristine sounding sample that you can still manipulate in more ways than with v 1.0 (see under)
7/8 Sample Start position offset & Sample reverse mode : Very simple, you can a lot of usefull sonic variations with a single sample bycombinig these functions. Yes, it's basic, but still, it opens an infinity of sound variations.
10/ LFO One Shot Mode : (Always combined with phase reset mode) : It can be used as an additional ONE SHOT envelope. You can use it to make Simmons like Toms, or Kicks. Or to shape the segments of any of the three regular envelopes (like adding a cut-off burst at the beginning of a sound). Or to free one of these enveloppes that you'll use for other tasks. There are many ways to use it, and here again, it opens a wide new territory of synthesis options and experiments.
14/ Drag'n'Drop pattern to Daw : Well, this one has been requested by some userssince the very beginning. It was very tricky to implement, but finally it's done. It compliments the Midi Out mode, wich allows control of Hardware drum machines via StiX sequencer.

I'll put a YT video later wich can act as a kind of tutorial/illustration for the new synthesis features.

Thanks.
I think you're aware of the available Ilok SOFT option, but just in case:
  • It doesn't require a hardwared dongle
You can install StiX on 2 computers, simultanesouly, then manage licences
In many ways, it's a bit similar to NI, Arturia, Waves, PA and a lot of other big companies protection scheme, so if you are using one of these instruments, you'll find some similarities.

No but when Xils-CM made a promo upgrade offer it wasn't better than the price now (iirc). I don't know if there will ever be a Cm/Xils promo offer again.
All in all, the current price is your best bet before a long time I think.

Is the current discount only available when purchasing directly from Xils?
Plugin boutique for example is not showing any discount.
