No autotune, either.

I like this...today. I don't think that this could have been done back when New Order was at their heyday unless one was as creative as New Order. I don't think that anyone in New Order was a particularly good musician and they were terrible performers. But I think that how they embraced and used the technology of the day combined with a simple aesthetic is what I've always liked about them.

So to make this record today you have to be better than New Order as musicians and performers, not hard to do, have their song, easy to do if it's after they wrote it, and bring in elements from other styles that have come before.

I only comment because this song has been covered a lot but there's still something about the original New Order records that is often not captured in covers, I think that's true here as well. When you hear a cover it's often hard to separate how much of the appreciation you are experiencing is actually for the original. Of course, without access to parallel worlds, we can't exactly do an experiment to see if we'd still like a song as much if the cover came first.

I suppose that's moving towards a different thread though.

Here's a cover that kicks the krap out of the original. Of particular note is who wrote it originally. It's hard to believe Fleetwood Mac were ever that bad, but there it is...

NOVAkILL : Legion GO, AMD Z1x, 16GB RAM, Win11 | Audient EVO 8 | Lumi Keys | Studio Pro 8
Korg Odyssey, bx-oberhausen, Proxima, PolyMax, GR8, JP6K, Union, Atomika,
Invader 2, Flow Motion, Olga, TRK 01, Thorn, Spire, VG Iron

Not that the original isn't also great but Amy has the edge for me

I've always loved and will always love "The Police " but not Sting Solo ...... I like this cover better than the original ..... Now this is either late late 80s or early 90s now and I was a teenager and a hardcore skateboard so I hope you understand why I liked it better then ... But I'd say I still like it better today as a 40+ year old man.... well ..its so funny because it pre dates stuff like Limp Biscuit , Korn, 311 and P.O.D type music by many many years ... Hope you enjoy !

Hendrix's version was the one....

Dylan's wasn't bad, but he even said Jimmy's version was they way it should be.
More so than this other 1968 Dylan cover?

Oh, the good old days...:hihi:

Doom Soundtrack by Mick Gordon is better than the original.
