Actually I was forced to Logic back then because Ardour didn't talk to my hardware...
It has made huge steps forward since... You can chat directly with the devs and get fast help if needed... Harrison Mixbus which is based on Ardour also has its fan base...

So far it would have to be BitWig studio after I upgraded my 8 track license to 2.4
Background VST scanning while you work!
Fast loading and closing of projects
Just smooth sailing
All others have some super long VST scanning, some plugs not showing up even though they're in the freaking folder, or blacklisting plugs that work just fine....long load times etc etc
Clunky workflows and UI...
Reaper and FL studio tied for second for different reasons
can't beat FL studio for getting a song idea down fast

"Reaper and FL studio tied for second for different reasons

I like S1 with MUX is better, IMO MUX better than Patcher in FL and both ScratchPad, Chordstrack are missing from Reaper to me... furthermore (strictly IMO) Scratchpad (with the patterns) in S1 has better concept than the Channel Rack in FL for generating song ideas (especially because it can be used with the Chordstrack) so
without MUX S1 would be same as FL without Patcher ... but with it ...
I like FL, AL, Bitwig too but their feature set or arranger or piano roll or ... is a bit limited (ofc modulation in BWS is unbeatable, M4L, Push , warping are supercool in AL etc. ) compared to S1

I guess that's why S1 is only in 5th place in the poll (nearly tied for 3rd with Logic, Bitwig, and Cubase).CoolColJ wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 7:43 am Well S1 v4 has given me a lot of issues re plugins and is so slow at scanning....
P.S. I don't think that is a widespread problem.

Well it won't load the last PC version of Alchemy, whereas Reaper and FL studio do it just fine.zzz00m wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:04 pmI guess that's why S1 is only in 5th place in the poll (nearly tied for 3rd with Logic, Bitwig, and Cubase).CoolColJ wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 7:43 am Well S1 v4 has given me a lot of issues re plugins and is so slow at scanning....

Plus it's boot up time is really slow, and just getting into a blank song.
So all things being equal, it just doesn't cut it for me

It's interesting to see the numbers after a week or two. I'd have thought FL Studio would have been doing much better and I'm surprised at the popularity of Bitwig.

Startup isn't slow at all here... to which DAW are you comparing its startup time? It's definitely a lot quicker to boot up than Cubase.CoolColJ wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:29 pmWell it won't load the last PC version of Alchemy, whereas Reaper and FL studio do it just fine.zzz00m wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:04 pmI guess that's why S1 is only in 5th place in the poll (nearly tied for 3rd with Logic, Bitwig, and Cubase).CoolColJ wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 7:43 am Well S1 v4 has given me a lot of issues re plugins and is so slow at scanning....

You have something else going on there then. It starts up for me in about 8 secs, and I have about 500 plugins to scan.
