Software Sales ARE STUPID

As for the topic... I’m not a fan of it, but I get it.

Everyone here should understand it because of how often people speak about GAS and that GAS is rarely about old or full priced products. Its about either something new, or something newly discounted.

Most software sales it seems are generated when a product is either first released, or when it goes on heavy discount. One way or another they have to keep generating income.

That’s why you see such religious update cycles for some companies, because it keeps them in business without resorting to a subscription.

That’s also why you see such dumb sales tactics claiming this is the best ever made thing that was never created before because they need people to open their wallets again and again.

Then you also have to compete with illegal downloads and I’m pretty sure $29 is no mistake in pricing... Its just about the right price point for people to not want to deal with potential for malware compared to buying direct at $29 (without of course speaking of that lovely WUP).

The nice thing about all this is that the longer you’ve been doing this, the more likely you can tune it all out because you know what you want and you what you don’t want.

I wish that went on sale for $29. Can’t find it cheaper than $92 now.

Only IK Multimedia would be that arrogant... $29.99

That's just the setup for the $89 No Brainer year subscription deal. There is no way those guys can possibly think $29 a month for Amplitube is competitive. They are only beginning their manipulation campaign.

Remember what my signiture was over a decade ago.

It was Waves. I just don't understand what the person who bought it the day before is supposed to do... Drink it off?

I can't support this nonsense anymore. This stuff has no physical value. You can play so many games with people. It's honestly nauseating.

Right now I really need a new amp sim but hey nothing is on sale so I have a fear to pull the trigger on anything. Here I sit with no music getting done wondering how the next software developer is going to screw me.
I guess you checked on Ignite amps stuff right while you wait?
Kazrog with Thermionik is probably the best bang for the buck IMO.
If you wait for a sale you will probably save 10-15 $ so if you need it's not that bad !
Plus the demo has no limitations! I think it's worth trying it out and take your time to decide on buying or not !

yup, knocked off my bike.
i don't really remember an old man though.
tbh, i don't remember anything from before then, only what i was told afterwards.
Wow jeez your lucky to be alive. I’ve came
Close to getting hit by a vehicle, but narrowly avoided it.

Any broken bones after?
yeah, i did die. that bit was also true.
why i don't want to revisit 86.

my skull was fractured, a piece stuck in my brain.
my left leg was broken in several places, my foot was apparently on backwards, i only saw any of that under the influence of heavy sedatives, so im not sure.
my left hip(well, the pelvis part) cracked, but not quite broke.
Brutal

well it's good your alive! I've been pretty lucky and havn't had anything but close calls so far with vehicles.

Well thank you very much for the advice. I have been trying sims of all price points but I find that most of the indie stuff is geared towards high gain... for instance, audio assault... pretty decent... not my thing.

Right now it is between blue cat and sknote...

Kazrog and Thermionik - sounds like a couple of orcs from the Lord of the Rings movies... :hihi:

I think the bottom line is that companies do stuff which makes customers buy. As simple as that. Sales are one thing of that "stuff".

How stupid is it to still charge full price all the time for a product after 2 or 3 years? When you can generate a multiple of sales when you go for a 30, or 40 % discount. Mind that i'm not talking about what Waves does. I find that a bit extreme as well. BUT, they're one of the biggest companies in the business, so, i figure they do something right. At the very least they are not "stupid".

IK multimedia is a company I'll avoid for software purchases. IF i am to buy something it might be their iLoud micro monitors for laptop stuff.

I don't understand the Waves hate. I've found their plugins to be consistently stable with relatively low CPU hits for the most part. As far as the high list prices goes; Waves was obviously for the pro market originally and not geared towards home studio warriors. Many forget that you're actually just paying for a license to use software, you're not actually buying it as any physical commodity.

The Pros were paying for a license (at those prices) to use their products for commercial gains and this is also whom WUP is for at the end of the day. The average Joe doesn't really need it.Waves apparently realized they could tap into the home studio/hobbyist market that's making music for fun or non commercially and sell licenses at bargain basement prices to enthusiast who likely won't make a dime from music. It's certainly no loss for them. More companies are joining the trend. I often wonder how companies like DMG Audio (that never have sales?) and Wave Arts stay afloat?

No, Please Don't fall in a misconception, with all respect, there are softwares that you buy and is actually yours, not in the sense that you can do whatever you want with it, of course you have to respect the agreement; but there are softwares you pay and is yours, we shouldn't be completely dependent of a company when we do investment, is a personal decision at the end but yeah...
