Included in the release is a SkaleVSTi.dll.

I wonder what that's for ;).

Don't get your hopes up just yet, there are some ASIO related problems to straighten out first.

If the VST loading/editing bugs from 0.76 have been fixed, this will be quite something!

Going to download asap.

HI

So - anyone using it as a vsti?

I used to love using Octamed - the way you could QUICKLY load up a sample and have it spread over ALL octaves and then QUICKLY input a run of data for some really nice pitched lines - especially nice for percussion.

Flipper.

Yes, the tracker philosophy is unsurpassed in some areas when it comes to control and efficency. Man, it almost feels like it's my religion ;).

Unfortunately, the VSTi isn't working yet (like I didn't see _this_ coming ;)). When loaded, it crashes the host. But Baktery is working on it as we speak, so hopefully we'll see a fix in the near future.

<edit>
However, nothing stops you from trying it! Perhaps it's working in some host on some system configuration somewhere. The more people that's testing it, the more it helps the Skale crew getting a working version out.

Yeah, that's a good question . Perhaps they use some magic setup. Nah, according to the installation docs (the screen shots in particular) it seems that they have tried it on Cubase VST32. However, they refer to newer hosts such as SX2, so one would assume that it work there too. But I don't know for sure...

Post

It seems to work now. I've tried it in Cubase SX2 and EnergyXT, and it works for me.

Fix posted at: http://www.metamacro.com/awezoom/skale/ ... php?t=1633

The sync between the VST host and Skale works very well, and positioning is pretty good too. However, the midi trig is not very tight. You can send midi to Skale at the moment, but midi out is coming up as well. You might want to try to send midi to Skale and see if it syncs well. For me, the sent midi notes aren't trigged very "tightly". Sometimes they are trigged too late, sometimes too early. All other VSTi hosts (like EnergyXT) I've tried does it better, so this is not very acceptable in the long run. Why don't you all try it out, and maybe it'll turn out to work better on some systems.

Nope, still doesn't work in Cubase SE, even with the new VSTi .dll. :(
Keeps complaining about that .dat file?
Baktery mentioned that the .dat file is not where it's supposed to be. But where is it supposed to be then? :?

Yes, it complains about the .dat file because you haven't placed it where Skale expects it to be. Follow the instructions in HowToUseSkaleVSTiUnderCubase.html contained in the full Skale distribution pack.

In short, you need to put SkaleVSTi.dll in the Cubase VSTplugins directory and all the other files in VSTplugins\Skale. Just copy the Skale installation directory to VSTplugins\Skale and move the SkaleVSTi.dll up one level, to the VSTplugins directory.

cool it works. would be nice if it didn't have to be full screen though.

I still don't know if i can get used to using trackers again, it's been almost 10 years :o

That's funny, I thought it defaulted to window mode. Anyhow, you can run it in a window if you like. Push the "window mode"-button in the right margin in the main screen in Skale.

 I need to get my reading glasses :D

Standalone runs stable as always. Less VST loading crashes than previous version.
VSTi version won't load in Audio Mulch - says that skale.dat can't be read.

Read the Skale forum, about a million people have that particular problem ;). Also check the docs in the full distro pack of Skale.
Basically you need to copy the Skale installation directory to the VSTplugins directory and then move the SkaleVSTi.dll up one level from the Skale directory to the VSTplugins directory.
