Why are a disproportionate number of plugin developers based in Sweden and Germany?

I think the disproportionate part would have to be seen in relation to the number of overall citizens, too. Then there may be a case, seeing that there’s only 10 million Swedes in Sweden.

4. They really like music but because they don't get enough sun it makes them too shy to sing or play in a band so they code music plugins instead.

Another silly thread.
France- Arturia, UVI, iRcam, Ohm Force
USA- Spectrasonics, Nomad Factory, Eventide, SoundToys, Slate, Lexicon, Peavy, Positive Grid..
That's just off the top of my head.
Germany has more audio software developers than anywhere else, but I don't see some major amount, or lessor amount coming out of other places?
Italy and Sweden make great showings based on size no doubt.
With DAWs it's pretty much all the USA and Germany.

The real question is why Lagos, Nigeria doesn't have more plugin developers when it has twice the population of Sweden, and what are Lagotians doing with their time if they are not developing plugins?

United States -> Audio Damage, Xfer Records
But you are definitely right. I looked at my plugins folder and indeed, a lot of plugins are from Germany or Sweden....

Sweden is big on software in general, a lot of top games (candy crush saga, battlefield etc) are developed in Sweden for instance. Sweden also happens to be one of the biggest music exporters per capita with the likes of max Martin and others. Then we have Skype, Spotify, MySQL etc
