It's funny to think about Naylor's now.
JTN was still building boutique amps when I first met him. He'd show up at "The Guitar Show" and drop in all the brick and mortar guitar stores in around the Detroit area. He dropped off one of his first guitars the Reverend Rocco at a guitar store and it was an amazing rockabilly machine in a small package.

I loved that thing like nobodies business but I just picked up a Godin prototype built by Robert Godin with electronics by L.R. Baggs. They hadn't even released it to the market yet and within a year it was renamed from L.R. Baggs model to Acoustcaster.

I've always been very wary of Dean guitars as every single one I have played has lived up to the company's reputation for making poor quality guitars. Hopefully this one will be an exception to the rule.

It certainly looks better than most Dean guitars, and at that price I'd think you should get a lot of features for your money.

That's why it's called 'select' - that's their new line of guitars, which are supposedly better quality than their 300-400 dollar guitars. Looking at the wood materials and the Seymour Duncan pickups, it would be a shame if it isn't good.

Well good luck with it, and I hope it lives us to your expectations. It would be interesting to see if they make a dent in the market for guitars in this price range, as I don't know if they have every really made higher end guitars before.

They have several k guitars which are made in their US shop. Those are made in Indonesia, if I'm not mistaken.

BTW, with the amount of processing that goes after it (amp, cab, fx) - who would recognize if it's good or not good? I've watched 'gear masters' and 'rig rundown' videos on youtube - the likes of Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Nile, Deicide - and they all have great instruments, great amps, etc., - and in the end all you hear is some low freq. buzz and you can barely make out what they're playing. Like WTF?! Have you listened to the last Morbid Angel album? Trey is an excellent song-writer and player, but WHERE ARE THE GUITARS? This mud that hurts my ears are the guitars?! Come on, Trey Almighty! :x :help: :o

Can you play that thing sitting down?

Probably no harder than playing a Les Paul sitting down. I used to own one, and pretty much always played standing up as the amount of weight to the right of the curve in the body was so disporportionate to the weight on the left. Let go of the neck while sitting and you could guarantee the neck would flip up and the guitar would be on its way to the floor.

I've gotten in the habit of always having a strap on the guitar and using it while sitting.
That being said... position the instrument like Rob Chapman handles V's and you'll be fine.

Is that Dean a Flying Explorer or an Exploring V?

It's a ML. I think he is sitting, right?
