Why Are A Disproportionate Number Of Songwriters British?

Can somebody please tell me what in god's name they are using to classify songwriters. These lists are absolute twaddle. I feel pretty sure that every single person here could add any number of songwriters to each list.

Apparently it's not necessarily applied to all music that includes someone singing.



So, from what I can tell, Lady Gaga is a songwriter but Anton Webern, although he might have called them Songs or Lieder (which incidentally are still being performed almost 100 years later) well, no, he was pretty much not a songwriter.

It was a few years a go. I can't find it anymore. If I remember correctly, it had factual facts.

I found this today though. It's similar but "kinda different".
It probably has pseudo-facts.

The entity named "wrong numbers" seem to have the right numbers.
