The Spherical Harmonics Soundset for Diva contains 92 high quality presets suitable for any contemporary electronic and ambient music genres. It includes a well balanced assortment of presets spread out across a diverse category of patches, including soundscapes, basses, leads, pads, plucks, keys, and sequences. They were designed to not only sound as beautiful as possible, but to have a high degree of expression with extensive modulation assignments via pitchweel, modwheel, velocity, and aftertouch. In addition, Spherical Harmonics is a tasteful fusion of both old and new styles alike, including the best of the retro sound with the best of what the future has brought since many of the iconic synths from yesteryear.

Highlights
  • Includes 92 Presets
  • For your convenience, patches are organized by either type (bass, lead, etc) or all in one folder.
  • All patches are volume normalized. (They won't clip and have equal volume levels when scanning between presets)
  • Complex Modulation Wheel destinations for all patches. All patches also utilize velocity sensitivity.
  • Patches created in the latest version of Diva.
  • Easily installation procedure with detailed instructions with images.

What you guys think of the Soundset name?

Anyone else think Harmonic Stars might have more appeal?

I think the name is cool! I am glad you got this one out eventually!

My day job is chemistry/physics theory. This is the greatest name for a patch set I have ever seen. Sadly I don't have Diva!

Post

Whatever the name, this is a ridiculously good soundbank!

Most impressive, bravo!

Hey, thanks guys, glad the name is appreciated.

Yep, it's an awesome soundset :D

I'll be sticking with name and maybe save Harmonic Stars for later. :tu:

This is great! I love quantum/astro physics :) Spherical Harmonics is a phrase that came up while watching pbs youtube channel "".

Kvr doesn't playback at time, so you have to scroll to 444 to hear it come up, or just click the link to go to youtube.

How important is it to have the preset names in the videos? I like the idea, but it's a lot of work :o

They have a much more general significance than that! When you solve the wavefunction of a single electron interacting with a proton (i.e. a hydrogen atom) the solution is the set of spherical harmonics. These shapes are what we teach as "orbitals" in school chemistry. In larger systems the shapes are a bit more distorted, but a lot of analysis/discussion/intuition of chemical bonding is done in terms of these ideal atomic orbitals (the "linear combination of atomic orbitals" (LCAO) method).

So spherical harmonics are a good approximation of most of the matter we interact with day-to-day :-)

Endlessly fascinating. I had no idea spherical harmonics were involved in electron orbitals. It always bothered me seeing those rings around electrons indicating its fixed orbit, but I think its closer to the fact the electrons position is a smear of possibilities around a cloud around the proton (nucleus). That this probability cloud behaves according to the mathematics of spherical harmonics is a key bit of information I'm happy to learn about. Sometimes, the most interesting stuff is the fundamentals behind our world.

When you say "set" of spherical harmonics, is it like a coordinate system?
