Is an NH D15 going to be enough to quietly cool an I9 9900k?

I am building a new workstation (upgrading from an i7 4790k), I work with projects with a lot of Kontakt instances. I am nervous about going down the wrong route with this. On the audio boards, I have seen people have been having a good experience with the 9900k and have not had an issue cooling it, on other boards I see it can be problematic. I am not using this for gaming, so I will not be getting a video card. I am wondering how well the NH D15 will work for cooling a 9900k at 5ghz? I would really rather not do any liquid cooling.

I may still possibly just go with the 8700k and overclock it if it is going to be much less of a hassle cooling wise, but as time goes on my projects will get bigger and ideally I would like to not replace my computer for another 5-7 years.

As far as I understand, for my purpose having the two extra cores in the 9900k would be worth it over the 8700k even if I didn't overclock it.

Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Ah man this whole thing stresses me out!

Okay so if I interpreted this correctly, then the NH D15 will be sufficient for the 9900k if I am not overclocking?

I guess my main concern is balancing longevity and (lesser so) with value. But most importantly I don’t want the new machine to be problematic. I believe I will see a big difference over the 4790k going with either the 9900k or 8700k, but is going stock with the 9900k worth getting over the 8700k? I figured it might as well be worth it for the two extra cores if I do not want to buy a new cpu in the next 5 years. I also may replace the NH D15 in the future if I decide to try and overclock. (Getting an auros z390 master for the mobo).

Just don’t want to drop a lot of money and end up with an unstable system, but I also don’t want to compromise is it’s worth it and my concerns are overblown.

Yes and you may able to set all cores to 4.7GHz if you tweak the AVX offset.
+- 1.2v to 1.25v for the CPU(the good ones), YMMV.

If you want the *ultimate* silent PC, get a custom water cooler and place
the pump/radiator into another room...

Thank you so much, I am going with the 9900k, auros master, nh d15, and 3200 ram (just cause why not).

One last question I have to ask, as I am not very tech savvy with this level of computing. I just noticed that the auros master only has 1 hdmi out, and I use two monitors. Will adding a cheap, silent graphics card create any sort of additional draw away from the cpu? Or will it do the opposite? I was hoping to make the build as slim as possible but two monitors are paramount for me.

Was looking at this one, I don't need anything fancy as I am only using this for audio.

I am glad to help, If you add AMD GPU, no problem.
But Nvidia can be a risk...

The AMD 500 series only turn on the fan when hot.

Any update? How's NH D15 cooling your 9900k @5GHz?
