Ok sorry to triple post here...but i opened the app.
First impresisons - hmm i really like the new sidebar. I don't think it merits an entire v10 update, but it is nice.
I opened roland 909 plugin, along with a step editor. Put in a kick pattern,
then i open dune.
Crash. Can't even quit it, have to force quit.
This is exactly what i mean. It is literally unusable. How can they in good conscience ask their existing users for another 70 bucks for a few small improvements when the whole program stil wont even run?
And then to pass it off as 'plugins crash all systems'
No, they never crash ableton or studio one for me, and rarely crash bitwig.
I opened two plugins and the whole thing comes to a standstill.
I only bought this last summer, now if i want to keep it up to date i pay another 70 bucks, which puts it up to the same amount i payed for bitwig, except this one doesn;t work.
Sorry to sound like a whiner...there is a lot i love about this program - thats why i got into it!! But i am just astounded they haven't focused on the things all of their users wanted them to focus on??!

Try running Pluginval on Dune to see if there's an issue with the plugin. You can run Pluginval from the Plugins window in settings. If it does fail a test, contact both devs with the info.
Linux version?

I have been using Dune along with all my other synths in Ableton, Bitwig and Studio one, every single day since i got them. Dune has never had a problem in any other program.
If there is an issue, it;s an issue with Waveform. That response is basically all i got from tracktion.
I have over 300 plugins, the vast majority of which had problems loading and or working in waveform.
Every single one of them works brilliantly in the 4 other DAWs i have.
Its a shame. Just using waveform now (using their own synths so i can actually try the program out without crashing)
Its a really interesting program that has a cool way of doing things. Just wish it worked better.
Also, anyone else using the 'groove' editor? To me this was one of the features that really caught my attention. Bitwig has global swing, which is cool and tight as hell, but you can't do a lot with it. Ableton has the groove pool, which is great for using lots of different grooves.
Waveform however, lets you create your own grooves! Amazing. BUT you can't use 16th notes. Which rules out 99.9% of the uses you might have for this. I literally cannot wrap my head around it. Surely this must be some kind of user error? i can't imagine a company would go through all that effort to leave out the most important thing?
Anyway, again i am sorry to sound like a bummer - i really want ot support the company, but it is frustrating.
the new synth is very cool! There is something positive! I also really like the new sidebar. Expands on one of the other things i liked about waveform - modularity and ability to customize what you see, when you see it.
If they cleaned up the issues with this they would become one of the most popular DAWs out there, i have no doubt.
But they need to get the pattern generator sorted - so they can talk to each other, ad so you can freely edit patters, whilst still being able to change chords / chord track afterwards and have everything follow it.
Also we need 16th note swing.

You can upgrgade more than one version for the single upgrade price. At least two, possibly three. So if you jump 10, you'll still be able to do 9 to 11 next year for whatever the upgrade price is.DavidCarlyon wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 4:14 pm Ok sorry to

Tis a crashy POS. One of the 'improvements' is it autosaves often and restarts on a crash. Like WTF? Try making it not crash every 5 minutes in the first place and blaming it all on 3rd party plugins that all work fine in virtually every other DAW. Won't be upgrading.

Just think of it as an old-school Italian sports car, or an MGB. Great when running, but not very reliable. Actually, I can't confirm that as I haven't had it crash once, but that's in very limited use. Why don't they just sandbox them and have done with it? Bitwig did a lot of plug-in excuses early on, but now they run them all together by default.

Yeah. to be honest, i just downloaded the reaper demo the other day and i think i will move to that. I have been through literally every major daw apart from cubase in the last two years.
But i think i will now settle on Reaper (with bitwig for inspiration/performance/fun)
Out of everything i have tried they are the best representation of my two favourite ways of working. Still love ableton tho..but Reaper is just mind blowing. Horrid at first, but mind blowing. Haha.
One thing i really, really love about waveform is the 'search' and tagging function. Really, really neat. Much better than reaper. That and the chord track.
But that's about it

I’m watching a lot of criticism here, and probably a lot was rightly observed, but I, as a new user of Waveform, believed in this program, it seems to me that they are determined to seriously develop and correct it.
I intend to switch to Waveform as the main DAW, I’ll just wait until all the problems with automatic latency compensation are fixed.

Yeah I use Reaper as my main DAW and Waveform among others for inspiration, mainly Reaper and Waveform now as Waveform has gotten so cold, but Reaper is also so infinitly deep it's ridiculous while still being ridiculous simple to get up and running.

Good luck with waiting then... I hope you are a very patient person... and I hope for you I am wrong...Clac wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2019 3:56 pm I intend to switch to Waveform as the main DAW, I’ll just wait until all the problems with automatic latency compensation are fixed.

I think i am settling on reaper now.
Will give waveform another go before my demo runs out, but if it still crashes every time i open a synth, i will be forced to not upgrade.
i have the whole bundle (plugins, biotek etc) and will probably just sell it. I would love to use it - even as a rewire in reaper. But i would have to be able to actually use it without crashing.
In my nearly 5 day reaper evaluation i have had zero crashes. And i have been doing much, much, much more complicated stuff.

I just spent the last three days setting reaper up - it is a task to get all the functionality exactly as you like it. But at the same time it just works. Nothing i have tried has not worked - which is amazing really.
It can do things no other DAW can dream of.
I hated it at first, but now i don't know if i will be able to go back to others (not full time at least)
Will still keep bitwig because i love jamming with it. But all i have wanted for ages now is just to get really, really fast with just one daw.

I just saw on KVR - tracktion 10 plus DAW essentials 79 bucks.
Upgrade - 69 bucks.
Is it me or have they totally stiffed the people who have been (trying in vain to be) loyal users?
I kind of can't believe this company at the moment. Am i being un reasonable? I really wanted to keep a copy going, even as a second DAW, but to pay that for a DAW that doesn't work, when the whole new package costs basically the same....AND reaper is less to buy.
Gutted to say the least
