hey guys, i got some questions about checking ot the key and producing in the same key.

e.g. i got this song

i looped the melody at the beginning and used Hornet Song Key MK2 and it shows me this
Image

it doesnt shows 3 key estimations but mostly it is G Min, so does it mean i can set my DAW to G Min and should have the same harmony as the song?

thankS

No because key is merely key, it guarantees nothing past that fact. 'Harmony' involves actually doing stuff.

For what you wanna do, basically yes Gminor is the key set and make music.

No.

In case nobody so far knows the word 'harmony': G minor as a key may have harmonies, eg., G minor triad. Not even this is provided just by setting key = G minor. Even if you have the DAW set to disallow everything not in key, you could bang away and not have anything more than the 7 notes in the natural default form of G minor randomly.

It may have other harmonies: Bb major; Eb major; C minor etc.
You might have something in the song which is dyads, or simply harmonizes a melody with one other voice. I don't know what's in the song, but if it has any actual harmonies by a working definition of that term, it is not automatically provided by the determination of a key.

It may be that in the DAW there is a chord builder or something to form the chords, or harmonies for you. That isn't stated in the question. The actual answer to the question is no.
