Wow.. thirteen years later and my ears still do this. Thank God the hearing comes back every time this happens though.VitaminD wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2006 5:58 am Sometimes (rarely) the hearing in one of my ears will just disappear suddenly and nearly completely.. then magically it will come back moments later.. unsure if its related.. but yeah its not good!![]()

It surely has to do with blood flow. As does Tinnitus. So, you could say it is related. I occasionally have that as well, usually with a high frequent tone leading to it. Again, people from my family have exactly the same thing. Pretty sure it's inherited.

I occasionally get ringing in my ears from time to time but it often goes away on it's own. When it does happen it drives me up the wall. I really don't want it to be permanent.

I went for one of those free ear tests for hearing aids and they determined i completely lost the ability to hear the frequency spectrum of a female voice. That's what happens in a marriage. Your body adapts to tune out the nagging and everyone is happy as a clam. Hah!!
But seriously, I got a referral to a ear, throat and nose specialist and am scheduled to a MRI of the ear area. We shall see what turns out -- but I have read that there are these procedures they do where they install tubes or something in your ear and it fixes the problems. We shall see.
But yeah. FWIW, I have tinnitus as well. It used to be really bad 15 or 20 years ago when I was younger and playing live in bands. Now its settles to a regular white noise rumble. Its sometimes gets much more noticeable in the evening. What I dumb ass I was. I should have worn ear protection back then. I only clued in that you can get specialty ear plugs for your instrument of choice about 15 years into the quasi career I had as a shitting musician in the local shitty music scene. So I only had protection for the last 5 years of it. Before that it was all unprotected. What a dumb ass.

I would never marry a girl named Tinnitus, except to be certain to become the next roman emperor.
(I'm out. Sorry for the Very Bad joke. Best luck for all those who suffer of this
