About halfway down Regent Rd - the dual carriageway.
opposite side to Salford Lads club. Little industrial estate called The Red Rose Centre. SC is in there. Deffo worth a visit as it is easily the largest music store in the area, and the staff are a lot less ignorant than The A1 crew, who aren't interested unless you are N Gallagher, E Clapton, or someone outta Hollyoaks. :(

All I find myself longing for atm is a bigger midi keyboard + http://www.behringer.com/BCR2000/index.cfm?lang=ENG + http://www.behringer.com/BCF2000/index.cfm?lang=ENG.

I'll start with getting a new keyboard (oxygen8 atm), then the BCR, then the BCF, then if I need to, more BCR's and BCF's.... They cost close to nothing. so...

Yeah, EMIS is the UK Doepfer distributor, ask them for a Doepfer catalogue. Also look at the prices for the 'owners club'; gets you a 10% or so discount...

And as Dystonia rightly points out, it has Theremin modules

Hi,

You should definitely check out a cwejman as well. From the samples it sounds amazing (incredible depth of tone) and it's been pretty glowingly reviewed.

In your position it or the g2 would be my top choices because:
- they're closed systems, so you won't get modular lust. Doepfer is actually really bad for this because they are bringing out interesting and useful modules all the time and you can get them pretty much straight away. This is bad, really ;)
- they're still hugely flexible. While the voyager is a beautiful machine, it is limited in a number ways that can only be remedied if you have a modular lying conveniently by to supply it with the necessary CVs. Still what it is good at, it is very very good at...

But I think you will be very happy with any of these options :)

FWIW, the doepfer's amazing. There's a prejudice about them because of the size and price, but it's not justified. I originally bought one because I didn't have much cash and I wanted a modular. At the time, the doepfer was the only option. I suppose at the back of my mind, I figured I trade up some day for a "real" modular.

But I have come to appreciate the doepfer more and more and, while I would certainly like a few modules from other manufacturers, the doepfer will be the mainstay of my modular setup for the foreseeable future. Some of the new modules that are coming out are incredible and not available anywhere else...

Most of the criticism against doepfer comes from their habit of scouring the net for other peoples circuits, and selling them without permission, credit or payment.
This has led to talented analog designers like Juergen Haible removing some circuit diagrams from their sites to stop them being "doepferised".

Their continued use of low quality components (unsealed carbon pots etc) doesn't exactly inspire confidence either.

4)a little bit special, i know this isn't really a criteria but at this amount of money i wan't something that will really blow me away :hihi: cos otherwise it will be a shit load of little toys
You are talking about the Hartmann Neuron here. :D

Image

It is nearly £40 above your price limit though...
that looks pretty damn cool 8) , definately gonna have to try one of them out.

cheers,

steve.
With kind regards from the owner of a Waldorf Wave, some Moogs and a large Doepfer system.

Also, if you are into real analog synths and want it all, including the possibility to store sounds, then don't forget to consider the Alesis A6 Andromeda!
