Hmmm. Well since this thread is about Logic . . . . . I just did your little Waves Rverb test on Logic 6. I got 27 Rverbs equalling about 85-90% on the CPU meter. I'm on a Dual 2Gig G5 with 4.5 gigs of ram, MOTU 2408 Mk III buffer setting at 256k. 48k, 24bit stereo test files.

I really dindnt understand the post of this SSM. Are you traying to say that Pc companys are falsing their benchmarks? is that it? or that a shutle p4 totally crushes a dual G5 2GhZ?

Post

27 is very good, there have also been other tests that have proven PCs are faster ..which is why Apples adds for the G5 were band in the UK..not sure about the US

Did you have 27 VSTs or AUs? ... admittedly AUs take up less CPU, but im talking platforms ...also how many Audio tracks you manage with that?

the only thing i am hoping for in Cubase SX is AU support which is meant to be work in progress at the moment...

allthough I dont think the future of plugins is in the host DAW it is in cards like the UAD-1 and Powercore ...as no one likes useing loads of CPU anyway...

sounds like you are pretty set though

Post

You might know that Logic does not run on PCs but only on Macs, so what's the point in posting those links in this thread?

Besides, I do believe you that yours is bigger.
?????????????

Post

mmm first of all i dont care if you use Logic or what ever...

i was zooming through a load of threds and saw talk of Macs and PCs.... I find it funny when people talk like Macs are more powerful.

I posted these links to express what I think... If you disagree then so be it.

Logic or whatever!!! ... it does not matter what software you have as long as its set up well and works well...

Then please go and start your own thread about Macs and PCs and whatever.
This thread is about the release of Logic7, as you can clearly read in the title of the thread. If - like you say - you don't care about Logic, then what are you doing here?

Each platform has its advantages. I'm not gonna list them, but modern macs are no slugs. They may have been in recent history, and I don't believe they have caught or surpassed PCs in performance, but remember that there was a time when Macs did indeed smoke PCs. So who knows what the future holds.

The important point, as you allude to, SSM, is that whateever you use, you can leverage it to your advantage and get what you need out of it. If not, you have another option. But then again, that makes your last two posts sort of self-contradictory...

ok let me lay it all down for you....

i use Logic with a friend and I own Cubase...

i come here as he was over a while ago checking out links on Logic 7 ...so i hear PC Mac talk and send the link ...

you can either look at it and keep it in mind ...or get offended by it as you have.... I use Logic somtimes to...i prefere Cubase but that does not mean i have no right to post here.

but on that note why is it that most "Logic users" tend to be stuck right up there arse???

I was very simply saying that PCs are every bit ...infact faster than Macs

No offence taken.

I agree with you post but you lost me on tha last sentance ....

iposted here saying PC are rocking at the momnent after hearing a talk on platforms....

then i was told that if i dont use Logic to go away....i said i dont care about Logic ....juist because i use it it does not mean i wear a badge with it on everytime i go into a Forum....

I use it as my friend has a studio that uses Logic ...i have Cubase at home....i would choose Cubase over Logic anyday as that my prefrence.

the software you use is not a religion its a tool that you use to work with...people get to defencive if you "diss there DAW"

Fine, you've made your point. Now just troll away if you have nothing better to do than to bore the shit out of us with your mine-is-bigger comments.

The UAD-1 and Powercore are PCI Cards you slot into your computer and run High quality plugins off, to save CPU.
