Axiom has a filter section that's designed to sort of emulate the response of a speaker cabinet. You can also load any plugin you want within Axiom itself and use those as a speaker sim, if you'd prefer.

... and you can load IRs

Yeah, that's what it does - basically just as an IR-loader, it emulates the frequency response of speaker-cabinets using filters.
What it does not do, is to emulate any non-linearities (speaker-breakup, etc.) - just like IRs generally do not do that.
Who knows? Perhaps at some point the filters will optionally be dynamic (I sure hope so), but for the moment it's still way more powerful than any normal IR-loader because you can tweak the filters at will and therefor adjust the response to your liking/requirements, instead of having to load another (and perhaps another and another) IR in search of an adequate response.

There is indeed a post filter section that let you edit the curve or load and manipulate impulse responses. You will usually want to combine both, as many IRs usually do not include the filtering of the power amp and may sound a bit harsh by default.
As explained here, the philosophy of our "amp simulation" is not to reproduce the same structure as what happens in the "real world", on the contrary.
So the non-linearities of both the amp and the speaker can be simulated in the "Destruction" module. If you really need to, you can chain several instances to mimic the behavior or real amps (there are a couple of presets in Axiom that do that), but in most cases it is not worth the trouble.

Destructor looks great. If I bought Axiom would I get all the benefits of Destructor + all the other capabilities?
Can I turn everything off and just use Destructor in Axiom?

Yes, you can definitely just use the amp sim in Axiom with nothing else. The differences with the independent Destructor are the user interface (built into the main Axiom GUI), and the presets that have been streamlined for guitar & bass guitar (factory presets for mixing and electronic music are not in Axiom).

Thanks Blue Cat.
Is Destructor in Axiom capable of creating the same presets used for mixing or electronic music?

Yes. You could even copy them from the Destructor standalone demo if you want. They are fully compatible with each other.

Just got it, love how versatile it is.
Guitar farm / dual channel VST rack / extensible pedal & amp shop / guitar tuner... all behind an intuitive and clear GUI.
The amp sim engine isn't restricted to extant hardware emulation either.
All that made it a no-brainer to me - one that may save me money (by curing me of a raging fit of hardware gear acquisition lust).

Not to mention curing us of 'miracle software acquisition lust'.cptgone wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 4:25 am Just got it, love how versatile it is...

The happy irony being that Axiom handles both simplicity,
and extravagant complexity so well, that even those of us
mentally and emotionally challenged by the newest 'shiny thing',
can seek refuge, and find productivity, using Axiom.
Easy to grow into, and impossible to grow out of

You guys just nailed Axiom's main appeals to me. Except for keeping Kuassa's Vermilion and Caliburn, which address a very specific need -- awesome Fender and Marshall tones -- I've completely quit trying and buying ampsims and have uninstalled all of my past ones. None of the others compete for versatility and pure ear-candy tone.glokraw wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:49 pmNot to mention curing us of 'miracle software acquisition lust'.cptgone wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 4:25 am Just got it, love how versatile it is...

I've watched some YouTube videos and have yet to hear anything too intriguing soundwise. Chords Of Orion to Fluff and several in between. But the structure and the functionality and the current price and the testimonials are hard to ignore. I'll have to demo it and see if I can get some mojo working.
