Anyone know what happened to Artificial Audio?

The Obelisk delay seemed really good but I think it was €99 and always just outside my impulse buy range.

The site is still there but the products page is gone. Which is odd because they were 64-bit so one assumes keeping them at least running and saleable wouldn't have been that hard.

Odd that the site lives on this way… sad.

There was never a 64-bit version of the Windows build of Obelisk, at least. This was my definitive single "keeper" 32-bit plugin, and in my opinion still the best of its kind

Anyway, these are discontinued, and they cannot be activated anymore. So if you have bought this stuff and activated it on your system, and you want to make sure you can use it for the time being, keep your backups in check (to keep hold of the system specific licensing files). Installing on a new system is a no go. The usual story.

I learnt the hard way, and can't open my old projects with a fully working Obelisk on any of my current systems now, blaah. This situation inspired me, again, to make sure I don't use tools with challenge/response (or any other "let's include a point of failure, requiring outside interaction to install") more than the absolute minimum necessary in my work.

My recollection is that the Mac VST version was 64-bit. That said it's far enough back that I might be wrong about that.

I suspect it did get boosted and probably at €99 was not selling enough to keep the authors interest in maintaining it. Which is a shame because it seemed a genuinely useful plugin with a good UI. Even now I think it would have it's place.

It's a shame.
