Tracktion 2 was the first DAW I ever used, and I loved many things about it. I upgraded until T6 or T7, then since I switched to Mac I can't get those or later demos to run without freezing/crashing. Checking the Tracktion/Waveform forum in recent years - that still seems pretty common.

Tracktion / Waveform not my first DAW, but I like to support the Devs and keep a relatively recent copy laying around; if you're patient you can usually pick up a deal on upgrades - a good 25-40% off; I paid $31 for my W9 upgrade from JRRShop.

Yeah I may well do that. It is more he principle. Most companies look after their user base FIRST. Rather than making them pay loads compared to new customers. It does make me a bit angry. Specially because we have all had to wait and or get other DAWs in the mean time precisely because theirs doesn’t run properly!mcnelson wrote: Sat Mar 09, 2019 8:11 am Tracktion / Waveform not my first DAW, but I like to support the Devs and keep a relatively recent copy laying around; if you're patient you can usually pick up a deal on upgrades - a good 25-40% off; I paid $31 for my W9 upgrade from JRRShop.

I would have thought all the loyal users know there are occasional offers they can wait for. Haven't seen this $79 one though.DavidCarlyon wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2019 2:56 pm I just saw on KVR - tracktion 10 plus DAW essentials 79 bucks.
Upgrade - 69 bucks.
Is it me or have they totally stiffed the people who have been (trying in vain to be) loyal users?
I kind of can't believe this company at the moment. Am i being un reasonable? I really wanted to keep a copy going, even as a second DAW, but to pay that for a DAW that doesn't work, when the whole new package costs basically the same....AND reaper is less to buy.

Reaper is amazing, I've been using it for a long time.DavidCarlyon wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 12:51 amYeah i understand that, they have done some very impressive stuff. I also really like the new synth. But like you, i tried to switch as my main DAW...still waiting.Clac wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2019 3:56 pm I’m watching a lot of criticism here, and probably a lot was rightly observed, but I, as a new user of Waveform, believed in this program, it seems to me that they are determined to seriously develop and correct it.
I intend to switch to Waveform as the main DAW, I’ll just wait until all the problems with automatic latency compensation are fixed.
I think i am settling on reaper now.
Will give waveform another go before my demo runs out, but if it still crashes every time i open a synth, i will be forced to not upgrade.
i have the whole bundle (plugins, biotek etc) and will probably just sell it. I would love to use it - even as a rewire in reaper. But i would have to be able to actually use it without crashing.
In my nearly 5 day reaper evaluation i have had zero crashes. And i have been doing much, much, much more complicated stuff.
But I really liked Waveform, and I want to give it a chance, I use it much more comfortably than a Reaper, and the functionality is sufficient for me (almost), I would add even more advanced export capabilities.
There are concerns about stability and other glitches, but so far, the 10 version works pretty stable for me (although I haven’t been testing so much).

You don´t have much experience with Tracktion, haven´t you...Clac wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 2:37 pm I also hope that you are mistaken.![]()

We talk again when this actually will be released... the promise about "I´ll look into this this week" was already 3 weeks ago...
Again... I hope they will prove me wrong but if things continue like they were, you´ll still wait in 1 year for this fix...
They are more interested in adding new stuff than into fixing something...

I really enjoy Waveform and I hope they keep getting more new users. Its a great tool and the more successful the company is the more resources they can put into their products.Trancit wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 3:11 pmYou don´t have much experience with Tracktion, haven´t you...Clac wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 2:37 pm I also hope that you are mistaken.![]()

They are communicating and engaged and I want to keep it that way. I do some programming and I contribute from time to time. No one enjoys fixing bugs. They can drive you mad. Firefox had a memory leak for a good 7 or 8 years that hundreds of people couldn't fix but it really was a matter of how hard anything can become. Sometimes things look elegant and perfect then one little thing ends up toppling everything down. I personally like how the company is engaged with the community unlike a lot of other companies so I don't think pointing out how they said this and they didn't deliver in a week makes them want to continue open communication with their user base.

Bitwig is my DAWs and UHe and Tracktion Synths are my Bae. I maybe buy one synth a year. REMEMBER SELF just one synth a year!

That is exactly it though, companies that look after their base give them the first deals.
Anyway, it doesnt look like i will be upgrading, seeing as it stilll doesn't work with most f my plugins.
It is a shame, i love a lot about the software BUT it is by far the least stable DAW i have ever used.
Plus, i can now get Reaper - the most powerful DAW on the market - cheaper than i can get the Tracktion upgrade.
Again, i would still buy it if it was more stable. I love the new synth, love the tag based browsing etc etc. Some really neat ideas in there, but it feels so rushed.
plus every time i open it i get so frustrated at the groove editor. Who makes a groove editor that doesn't do 16th notes??? They go through all that effort and then leave out the main thing everyone wants! Anyway, i will stop being negative now. I hope they work it out. If they do, i will be back on board.

Maybe you should look again. "1 beat" in Tracktion terms means a quarter note. So you have a resolution up to "1/8 beat" which equals to a 1/32 note. This scheme is used everywhere in Waveform so they've also used it in the Groove Doctor.DavidCarlyon wrote: Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:09 pmWho makes a groove editor that doesn't do 16th notes??? However, it would be better if they had used standard notation but it is the way it is.

Oh awesome. don't know why they didn't say that in the email?
well thats one good thing. I am trying to find reasons to upgrade. But after getting into reaper 9which costs less for the full version and can do literally anything) it is quite tough.
There is loads i love about waveform. to be honest, if i could get it running stable with my plugins i would buy it anyway, just cos i like it...even if it wasn't going to be my main system. I would be happy to keep on Reaper, Bitwig and Waveform.
I will try again later this week and see if i can do anything to stabilize it. The problem, of course, is that it is hard to find time to pour into something that sedom works. It is hard to justify. So after the first day i have not been ableto put much time in.

Giving it another go. Every time i open it i remember how much i like about it. Still not very fast at getting around in it.
Does anyone know if there is an action to 'create automation lane for last touched parameter'
I think the automation is my biggest problem when it comes to workflow. If i could make that process much quicker, i would be more inclined to put a bunch more time into waveform
