1 is reserved for "I don't think you took this seriously." or "Serious study required".
Thanks for that beautiful clarification :tu: What about your interpretation of a 4 or 5? Quite curious as to what "investment" might be required to get from a 4 to a 5 :D

I've done voted! Commented on most - sorry if I missed you, I try not to. So many good tracks in many ways! Only used 5,4 and 3 - no-one got a 2 and only my track got the mandatory 1!

5 top tracks for me (probably not all the same as yours, but hey, that's the subjectivity creeping in!) and equal numbers in the 3 and 4 categories.

It's good to see how people mastered this synth in different ways - a lot of different "sounding" tracks, even though we know they are all from the same beast! Kudos to all

Hmm! Subjective territory imo! For me, 5 is when I no longer feel obligated to critique a track or offer constructive criticisms. It's technical excellence (sound design, mixing, or performance for example) is a given. At that point I'm simply enjoying the track and letting it affect me as a listener. Depending on how profound that musical experience is, sometimes I wish I could reach for a 6.

A little late posting this, I voted earlier.

This was a hard one to vote on. Everyone put in a lot of work and the results were a lot of really good tunes.

Not great enough according to the results. Thanks nevertheless.

The rimshot was made using 3 layered synth instances. The first one produces a very short white noise burst, filtered with an LPF, which imitates the hit itself. The second is a pure sine wave to add some pitch to the result (there are parts of the drum, that resonate with a distinct frequency). The frequency of the sine wave is slightly modulated with an ADSR envelope. It decreases a bit in a short period of time. The third instance generates filtered white noise which lasts a little longer than the other parts. It represents the parts of the drum, which resonate without a distinct pitch.

Then there're some effects. The first one is a reverb with a very small decay. Its purpose is to represent the sound reflections inside the drum. The second reverb is used in a traditional sense: to place the instrument into a virtual environment. A couple of equalizers were used to fit the sound into the mix and to give it some character.

And then there's an auxillary track, added by asi4, which receives sound from the drum bus and adds high frequency content. asi4 used the following effects for this track: Protoverb (0% dry, 100% wet), ReaComp (with a really small compression ratio), IGVI2 (have no idea, what this thing does :)) and a couple of equalizers.

Congrats, Carl! You had a great track with lots of interesting stuff going on this round! And congrats to your fellow top 5ers as well, way to go guys!

I won't speculate who should've been out :uhuhuh: - but you definitely deserved a spot in the top 5, løkken & asi4! And this is my worst position ever, with what is perhaps my personal favorite of everything I've done, haha :box:

IGVI2 is a great, little saturation effect from Klanghelm that used sparingly makes things shine that little bit extra and define them in the mix. I use it for snare and claps, hi-hat, bass, that sort of thing, and I love it.

Congratulations winners! All great in my book.
Carl, look at the scores and your track title, all I'm sayin' :tu:
For me løkken & asi4 and also schiing's tracks were incredible this month also, I found both those tracks particularly inspiring showing what is possible in OSC, :o
Scores are bound to seem a bit weird with loads of top quality tracks I guess :)
