Dear KVR Members,
We are glad to announce Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer 3.2, an update to our multiband multieffect and plug-ins host.
This free update mainly brings drag and drop support for plug-ins, multiple performance improvements, an impulse response loader for the built-in EQ and several fixes for built-in plug-ins (full details below).
For existing customers, the new version can be downloaded for free from the same location as the original full version (link received by email upon purchase). Others can get the plug-in at a special introduction price ($99 or 99 EUR instead of 129) until the end of the month, and a demo version is available on our website in most plug-in formats for Mac and PC.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 4-7K-SZ0Mh
What's New in MB-7 Mixer V3.2:
- Drag and drop plug-ins between slots.
- Hold the alt key on Mac and Ctrl key on windows to copy (duplicate) a plug-in instead of moving it.
- Drop the plug-in before another to insert it in the chain.
- Drag and drop plug-ins between several instances of the MB-7 Mixer or across plug-ins (compatible with the latest version of PatchWork, Late Replies and Axiom).
- Drag and drop .dll, .vst, .vst3, or .component files directly from the Finder or Explorer onto plug-in slots.
- Drag and drop .plgnfo files (previously saved from the software) directly from the Finder or Explorer onto plug-in slots.
- Built-in EQ plug-in can now load and manipulate impulse responses (IR).
- Spectrum analysis is now performed in the background and does not affect audio performance.
- Improved performance of the built-in EQ plug-in.
- Improved performance when saving preset/session with many built-in plug-ins.
- Fixed: effect tail not processed anymore when just inserted on a track (avoids using CPU when not necessary).
- Fixed: built-in multitap delay plug-in could get out of sync in some host applications.
- Fixed: sweep filter, flanger and tremolo plug-ins could fail to initialize rate when using tempo sync and loaded from an MB-7 Mixer preset.
System requirements:
- Intel Mac running Mac OS 10.7 or newer.
- Windows PC running Windows Vista or newer.
Pricing:
Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer: 99 EUR or $99 (instead of 129), until November 30th.
Enjoy!

Will there be more improvements to the crossover phase anytime soon? The last update for this was in 2015. I would really like clean, linear-phase crossovers and oversampling options.
Thank you

I was pretty interested in this but there was two things that put me off a little. Wondering if there might be improvements on the way. The whole plugin had a bit of a sluggish feel to it. Like maybe the graphics rendering takes a bit of juice. (im on a high end iMac btw). Second, id like more plugin slots available if needed. Like the option to add more slots per channel. Otherwise I do think this a super nice plugin Id love to have. I think for now I would be more inclined to try and manually construct multiband setups in patchwork.

Yeah, crossovers are really terrible...I don't use it only because of that, degrades everything. If you can reach the quality of ProMB that would be great.sbieda wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 6:43 am Will there be more improvements to the crossover phase anytime soon? You're best bet it to email BlueCat with your concerns and request for better xovers. I plan to! feedback[at]bluecataudio.com

I am on the same boat as you. The quality is not up to par with other multiband vsts at the same price range. I really love this plugin because it's the only of its kind that I am aware of, but those crossovers are a deal breaker for sure. I am very surprised this isn't something that has been addressed by now. This is a very important feature. Customers want their plugins to be unintrusive.axembler wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:21 pmYeah, crossovers are really terrible...I don't use it only because of that, degrades everything. I already emailed them about this a couple months ago. I don't think I got a response. Maybe they'll catch your email, but I don't see why they wouldn't respond here on their own post.plexuss wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:48 pm You're best bet it to email BlueCat with your concerns and request for better xovers. They may or may not be monitoring this and other threads. Assuming companies monitor forums can be unreliable in terms of getting support. It's best to email them directly. I did earlier about this issue.sbieda wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:41 pmI already emailed them about this a couple months ago. I don't think I got a response. I think Blue Cat was on a roll recently with many new releases and updates, and hopefully he will be considering adding linear phase (or better minimum phase) crossovers to MB7 at some point.
I also made the very same FR some months ago, and he kindly replied.
MB7 is really an awesome plugin, and a swiss army knife in many situations (but that's right that on some situations the "crossover sound" is very audible, which is not what we want).

It has been frequently requested and they said they were thinking about it.

I like to hear from them what/how they are thinking about it now.
I'm really loving Axiom, Late Replies and Patch Work, by the way.

Linear phase crossovers are indeed in our todo list but require quite a bit of work so we can't promise anything so far, and we are pretty busy on multiple fronts
.
One of the issues with the MB-7 Mixer anyway (that linear phase crossovers won't solve) is that you can load any plug-in in each band, and some may alter the phase and result in weird notches at crossovers.
Regarding the global phase shift introduced by non-linear phase crossovers (regardless of loaded plug-ins), you can reduce it by using less bands and reducing the slope of the crossovers.
