Just wanted to update my ProTools, and after a short dance-off with iLok (again) it seems PT 11.3.1 has some issues with Mojave and discovered I'm not subscribed so apparently I don't even have a license for 11.3.2 (latest update).
Who. The hell. Does. That. ?! you pay for a major version and you have to pay a subscription to download a minor update?!

I am never ever ever buying anything from Avid again, thank you next.

Avid, I hope you die together with pace and your executives die poor and in debt.
Sincerely, f**k you

Oh yeah, i only need it to open OMF's from video editors because Logic (and pretty much everything else) sucks at it :x

Its a bit odd that its not listed under the PT11 downloads as it is listed under Legacy downloads for later versions.

yeah i read up on it, it was avid's decision to omit it from non-HD pt11 users to force them into subscription. If you only have PT11 non HD license you don't get updates anymore

Ive been particularly annoyed by the fact that video import doesnt seem to work properly on PT2018; it was effectively stating I needed to have Quicktime installed. Its annoying for two reasons. Firstly, its not Quicktime videos, its MP4, and PT12 did it perfectly well. Secondly, PT2018 only runs on Windows 10 and Quicktime was deliberately never released for Windows 10.

I read about video engine problems. There's literally nothing except their agressive update policy that's inviting me to update to 12 or 2018

Is Pro Tools still even Relevant? I mean back when I was taking High School Classes for Music it was the ONLY DAW program we used and I own it now and know it as well as any Program aside from mabye FL and Ableton but it honestly has a ton of issues for an Industry Standard Program...

That and I rarely hear people talk about it here, although that could be attributed more to the fact that many people here make electronic music and Pro Tools is notably NOT easy to use for that...

I like and use it personally, it's the best-designed DAW for me hands-down. And no I don't use it for recording bands. But it's true that Avid is a truly appalling company, my only wish is for the software to hopefully end up in a better company's hands.

Yes. Whether you want to accept it or not, whether there are specific exceptions or not, its still the defacto industry standard for recording and post-production. To claim otherwise is parochial; its main market was never hobbyists and home studios, its the big media industries.
Where its as relevant to audio work as photoshop is to working with images.

ah, I just never see any talk about it, even on audio forums it's usually silent, usually just people complaining about it if anything. And the updates have little hype and fanfare. That might be accounting for, like you said, It being with big media industries rather then hobbyist being the main users.

EDIT: When I said "Is It Relevant" I meant out of genuine curiosity, not to be aggressive.

Looking on the brightside, over at Reaper there are human beings with feelings waiting.

What, as opposed to the dicks who cant see a thread about any other software without trying to pimp Reaper in it?

It's tough to beat ProTools if your primarily concerned with recording live audio.
For most of us though, it's not overly practical.
